Totally agree with Dan. And this will be my last post in this section so long as he is a mod here.

 

As a relatively long time member of this forum I've seen quite an evolution here. I must say it's not the place it used to be. I also agree that Vik has taken his duties as a moderator way too far. It's time to step down.

Just for the record and in the hopes of "full disclosure" i would like to remind people who participate in this forum not to forget about the banned and self-banned ex-members of ferrari chat, because they won't be able to vote but its obvious from how they were treated and how they felt which way they would vote in this poll.

From what I have seen of Viks posting in the regionals; he seems like a really nice guy. Down to earth and a true enthusiast. I took your link of his postings into consideration; however I voted undecided and probably closer to NO.

You point out questionable actions on his part, I'm just not sure how to make a decision out of it. He has been a mod for awhile now and other positions of power havent come across his way. From past experience, I recall others understanding his decisions. In the end, having a member poll would only be taken into account by them........which i'm sure wouldnt change much.

I'll agree with you on that, before a evolution took place, there was far more Ferrari-related threads. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that

A member who provides pics and setting up events for members of F-chat isnt bad at all. I also believe he is nice if you dont cross the line.

You've been here longer than me, this mistake isnt really the debate.

 

I will chime in - I have known Vik for about 2 years. Personally he is one of the nicest guys to deal with, talk with, etc. He is always willing to listen, give advice, take advise, etc.

I do not follow all the bannings, moderator stuff, etc. - so I will not chime in on that part.

But as we are all adults here is my recommendation:

Obviously there are people with hard feelings or issues with how Vik "moderates". Why don't we give suggestions to help and make Vik a better moderator - that way he can take these points (which he will take them and listen) - and work to improve - instead of the public lynching.

Remember - this moderator thing is not a paid job, and probably sometimes more hassle than it is worth. So lets be constructive and make your points, this could also help other moderators get valuable input as well on the things that you like and dislike when things happen.

I personally do not like even posting to these types of "issues". I use the site to gain and give (when I can) my opinion, help, etc on car related and sometimes fun related stuff. But as I would with anyone on this site - knowing them or not - I don't like to see this type of stuff without trying to correct the problem before escalation is needed.

All very good, very mature thoughts and ideas. I would agree entirely, but for the following:

Ghost's method of moderating is not new, nor are other's problems with that method. If the critiscm of his method has not motivated Ghost to change said method yet, I seriously doubt he is every going to.

P.S. - I have met Ghost once, a couple of years ago (though I doubt he would remember it, although I helped him detail his car). He seemed like a nice guy, bu that was my only personal experience with him.

 

Your credibility is zero unless you wish to publically apologize for the time you told someone that you hope he crashes his car and for various moronic comments about his family.

I never really paid much attention to Vik or the NYTS section but he asked for my assistance looking into if it was a case of multiple accounts. When I looked at it the IP's for Mooseclipper it looked like a solid match with Hubert. It's rather time consuming to compare and contrast individual posts and their associated IPs and most of the time simply looking at the IPs is sufficient to establish a match. Unfortunately this is one of those rare cases where it was not. Again I apologize for my part and this will be a reminder to keep an open mind and not rush to judgement until other possibilities have been explored.

In most cases it's because the member(s) involved are posting from the same location.
