That adjusts ride height, but preloads your sway bar. To actually corner balance you need to be able to adjust your endlinks. That fixes the preload that different spring positions can cause. Im suprised nobody markets a set, not that I've found anyway. Did the Challenge cars come with adjustable endlinks?
It can still adjust corner weights, but to your point maybe not 'properly'. I believe the front swaybar on all 355's is adjustable, challenge evo cars got rear adjustable links. edit: Interestingly, manual steering cars did not get an adjustable front sway bar. See here: https://www.ricambiamerica.com/car-diagrams/ferrari/v6-v8/355-group/f355-m2-7-1995/front-suspension-wishbones.html
Agree with you on “properly”. Still some benefit available. Id love to get my hands on a full set of adjustable challenge anti roll bars with links.
You can make them. You only need one side to be adjustable if you are lazy. That will allow you to delete the preload and scale the car. Remember to put your weight in the drivers side, 50% fuel load and hot tire pressures.
Yes, exactly ! Drivers weight in seat 1/2 a tank of gasoline Tires at hot pressures (~40 PSI for street tires on road race tracks) Disconnect sway bar links while setting ride height and corner weighting. Set sway bar links for zero biased loading.
Here’s another comparison done in 2003 on Tsukuba, which a 1 min-ish track where handling characteristics tend to shine. All were using the same Pirelli P-Zero Corsa street tires (probably all fitted at the same time for the test.) *They used a standard 2.7 F355 Berlinetta with lighter after-market wheels with a challenge wing. Stock brakes. Stock carbon seats. Comparing the 355 times to the 348 Challenge times, it tells me it is trickier to consistently clock a good time in the 348. Perhaps the 355 is indeed a lil “easier to drive.” Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ended up using factory 355 Fiorano specs from some connections in Europe. Man she is sharp feeling now. Really happy. Such a fun car now. Image Unavailable, Please Login View attachment 7892311
355 challenge, guess that's why it HG in san marcos. They did the setup on my 911, so good. Make sure its Chayse, guy is bad ass with chassis setup, damper settings and just making sure the car is as perfectly set up as possible. Cant recommend him more.
What would be the most reasonably aggressive suspension settings for a stock 355 Berlinetta. Do you need all the challenge or Fiano parts to use those settings listed above?
Its been hard for me to get accurate info on alignment settings! Lots of different info and even factory documents that are just wrong. Anyway I ended up using those settings that i shared that are 348 challenge settings, or one of the later 348 challenge car variations. But i am super happy with how the car feels, finally.
You cant get the ride height as low, but a good technician who has enough shims and skill but no other parts can get your settings there. The settings i chose throw tire wear out the window, that isnt an issue Im worried about. Also my car has nose lift. That ride height wont work on the street without nose lift.
caster is more on right side to account for road crown. If you were racing on a road course you want those equal.
