    interesting.

    this has nothing to do w/ the theme of that article, but if you ever have a chance to see a completely forgettable film but having great modern architecture, see "French Postcards" from 1979. The last half of the movie is filmed in Corbusier's Villa Savoye, which is the star of the show.

    Great subject, kinda weak article. It did bring up art deco though. Design has always been a big deal to me as have movies/tv. Great design does have an effect on people and the entertainment industry knows that and has the time/money to use it.

    I like old movies and some from the 30's/40's have had sets where the design was so far ahead of today it is screwy. The Tony Stark reference was expected. Some of the best ones I have seen lately or come to mind are from the movie Fracture and the TV series Smallville, I was watching a season 6 episode the other day -- Lex Luthor's office and Oliver Queens/Green Arrows clock tower diggs were 2 very well done designs. The newest CW series Green Arrow has had some nice office settings.

    Coincidentally I watched a show last night called "Selling New York" that showcased a 20+ Million dollar clock tower home in Brooklyn that would be a real life Green Arrow lair.

    Design is where it is at, not just for villains - whether its cars, furniture, homes/buildings, or cities. It can create a mood and an atmosphere.

    Nothing in NYC is close to worth the asking price. This place started out at $25 mill 3 1/2 years ago and the builder thought he was getting robbed. It is still unsold and now asking $19. There was another really well done apartment on another episode of that show located in a high rise on the corner of central park with an equally impressive view for $15 mill that sold.

    I will admit the views are incredible but you are still stuck in NYC and DO NOT own any land for all that money. You OWN the right to inhabit a box floating in space. So many other places in the country you can own 10 acres and have a huge beautiful home for a tiny fraction of an average nyc apartment with views of lakes or mountains.

    2 other homes that fit the article are the Caprica home and the SD Amex black card commercial home, again great views but both are somewhat cold and 1 would be like living in a garage.

    Caprica;

    1 that I did see in person was the 60's Batman mansion Wayne Manor in Pasadena, CA. The grounds were amazing. I have a pic I took of the entrance area. The house looked cool too, it burnt down down during renovation a couple years after I was there.

    I suppose the winner in this category for me would be the Sharon Stone Basic Instinct home, the one with the 2 espirits in the driveway, nice design and superb location;
