So here we go again with the perpetual question about F cars. My car is 12 years old with over 40K on the clock. I'd like to personalize the car with a different exhaust and change the front grill to a GTO style. At this point am I really taking away from the value?
My '77 308 GTB was modified heavily and the car was amazing. I actually did very well in the sale of that car.
    Thoughts?

Mods in general will tend to diminish the value, but exhausts seem to be on the “allowed” list of non standard parts along with Hill Engineering ball joints and up to date tyres. Everyone can see (or hear) the benefit of changing them, and people are comfortable with the reversible nature of such a change.

Not sure about the grill, but just plan to change back to the original one when you come to sell one day. It’s your car now, so might as well make it the one that suits you the best.

Keep the old parts so you can go back. "Life is brief and time is a thief" so what makes you happy is what you should do.I have done a few mods on my car and it has made the ownership experience even better. Mike

I see no problem with a GTO grill. And if it is a driver (not a collector) the exhaust won't matter much either. On a driver, I would consider the 6 to 1 exhaust swap.

I don't think that originality is much of a factor in a 12-year-old car. If it were 30 years old, it might be a more significant factor. If you plan on enjoying it for a few more years, any loss of value will amortize over the years that you enjoy the car more. But I agree that you should save all the original parts.

I have lowered the car some mm and added some spacers.
    And I'm lucky with this.

I have changed to the GTO style front grille.
    And I'm lucky this this.

I have changed to Fabio's 6-1 headers and changed the installed Tubis to original mufflers.
    And I'm lucky with this.

I have ordered a set GTO rims.
And I will be lucky with this.

So do the things that make YOU happy.
It's YOUR car, and when you change things you like, you will increase your satisfaction with the car enormous.

Perhaps not for others, but for YOU.

And all parts can be changed easily to original when it's necessary.
It would be another situation when you want to drill holes for wings or something else, .....

    Hi Oliver

First I have to get the GTO wheels.
I calculated, that it should be possible to fit them with 15mm spacers at the rear, at the front you need nothing.
So at the rear they are near equal to the Original Monolitic with 25mm spacers, that I have now.
At the front all is fine without spacers and its near the same to Original Monolitic with 22mm Spacers.

When I got them, I will check it.
Also i have to get the Titanium Bolts from Hill in 2 different measures for the front and rear.

    Oliver,

    so i will do.

I calculated and checked once more.
With 20mm spacers it could work also, so I could use the better spacer system and get 20 Titanium bolts in 52mm.
    Updates follow.

At 00:15 you can see a GTO with spacers at the rear.
