The Metropole is nice and well-located- lots to do in the neighborhood and in adjacent neighborhoods like Portier and Larvotto.
Yes, carbon/carbon brakes, but I couldn't get any heat in them and they're useless cold. The drives were a 50th birthday gift from my parents, but that was some years ago- there used to be a company that offered drives at various venues- all you needed to provide was a wad of $!

I booked two spots at a terrace on the 6th floor of Les Caravelles through CMX:

Monaco Formula one Grand Prix : exclusive viewing on private terraces

I'll upload some photos and thoughts afterwards to this thread for future reference for others.

I also have a couple of hotel rooms at Riviera Marriott Hotel La Porte de Monaco. I may only need one room, if anyone is in need of a second feel free to reach out to me and we can work out a deal.

I got to see them live - up close ... they were exciting... the turbos back then were so brutal with huge flames coming out on overrevs... at Monaco you could feel the vibration of the car as they went past Bawaaaa pap!

Even during the V-10 era you could feel the ground vibrate under your feet in Monaco when the cars went by- very cool.

Don't be put off by the fact that this hotel is actually adjacent to the (very upscale) marina in Cap d'Ail, France- it is literally on the France/Monaco border, with one country on one side of the street and the other just across. You can walk from the Marriott to the water-front restaurants/bars in Monaco's Fontvielle neighborhood in 2 minutes, and 10 more minutes on foot will get you to the many shops, restaurants and bars near the harbor in the Condamine neighborhood. Too far to walk to the Casino (or other stuff in the Monte Carlo neighborhood) or to the Larvotto beaches, shops, and restaurants, but cabs and buses are plentiful.

Quite helpful to know, thank you. I have dinner reservations at Louis XV Sunday night as well and will obviously be near the casino (and hope to swing by after dinner).
