Hello my wife and I are going to the Monaco Grand Prix. The Nice to Monaco train sounds very convenient. Does anybody know if there are any problems during the Grand Prix weekend using it? Do you have to pre-order tickets? I think we will stay in Nice but we really need the train to be running. Thanks.

Took that train a few times. No need to book, takes around 20 minutes.Normally every 30 mins but for F1 weekend more often.Very convenient. or you might consider the chopper which is fun.

I've not used it during an F1 weekend, but have in summer time....very very convenient, clean and on time. Very clear instructions as well once you're in MC.

Many tour operators rely on it to get their guests to the race from all along the coast

Although I’ve been going to the GP de MC for many years, I stay in town and therefore don’t have much experience with the train.
I have noticed though that they don’t run too late, so if you plan on staying in MC for dinner/drinks, be sure to take note of the times- I had friends who hung out for the evening and they had to take a taxi back to Nice by the time we finished dinner.

I used it and had no problems, there were a lot of stops, but nothing too bad. As somebody here said, no need to book in advance, though you can buy a pass ahead of time and avoid the machine if it gets too crowded. I remembered it took about 1 hourish from Nice to Monaco.

    Have a great time!

    6am to 9PM, 24 trains a day, 22 minutes Nice to Monaco.

It is a suburban train basically: a TER the views over the sea and small harbor town like Beaulieu are superb. Watch out for pickpockets, once the train was stopped until police arrived to arrest one but in taking it dozens of times I never had a problem.

I personally stay in Menton which is the town just beyond Monaco, some good seashore restaurants and choice of reasonable hotels.

My M.O. is I drive down from Burgundy, park the car in Menton on the Thursday and never use it until I go home on the Monday: train morning and evening, taxi back to Menton if I have a dinner in Monaco. To circulate and park in Monaco during the day is a waste of time in traffic jams and money. Monaco, the part that matters, is tiny anyway.

    Depends on where you're sitting
It's a long walk to K or up the hill
If you're sitting on poolside or Roche it's a hop, skip and jump
If you're sitting on Roche on Sunday rent a car so you can get there before the first train at 7 or you'll never find a sweet spot
The train itself is great everybody's going to the race great atmosphere
Plus there's a foreign legion recruiting office in the station
    Dress appropriately

Not a personal experience, but story from a colleague: after the GP beware of pickpockets as the train station is very busy

22 minutes, that’s great, my memory is getting worse! The scenes of the ocean are marvelous, a lot of beautiful villas along the way and small coves!

In 2006, my wife and I used the train from Nice to the Monaco Grand Prix for both qualifying day and race day. Worked great for both!

2015 - We we’re at MonteCarlo’s Hotel de Paris a couple days before and we’re able to watch Thurs morning practice from our room’s balcony. Moved to very neat/quirky Hotel Negresco (Coco Chanel’s suite) in Nice for Thurs-Sun. Train was super easy and convenient. Fun crowds, queues, not really that bad. Don’t even think of driving that weekend in the city. Beware only the walking in MonteCarlo: Not far on a map, but undeestand the vertical!! stairs, switchback hill sidewalks.
    Unforgettable few days

Note that there are several exits from the train station, and you'll want to use the one closest to your seats if you hope to mitigate the very vertical nature of the terrain; otherwise you may face a LOT of climbing.
There's signage everywhere directing you towards the various lettered grandstands (although that may not help if you're instead seated on a private or restaurant terrace/balcony), but in any case there's walking to be done, much of it circuitous since many roads and walkways are closed due to the race.
If you do walk to the end of the tracks to take the escalators- and then elevators- up to the top level, cross the street when you exit and look down towards the harbor. It's a great view, and even though I stay in town, I sometimes go through the train station and up that way just to take in the scenery if I'm headed up towards the Casino area.
