Saw a '31 Alfa racer, almost exactly like one of those in the garage lineup photo, as part of the Shell Historics in the Ferrari Challenge at VIR last year. I was standing on the balcony of the pit garages at the exit of the Hog Pen and watched the driver of that Alfa perform one of the most beautiful four wheel drifts I have ever seen done with a car of that vintage. For a few brief seconds I felt as if I were witnessing some 1931 GP. What a thrill! Any history on that Ferrari "Snow Plow"? I've never seen anything quite like that. Very bizarre! Gary

Btw, the Lotus 16 No.20 was not the winner of the E Class. First it participated in the D-Class, and second another 16, driven by Duncan Dayton, won the race. The E-class was won by the Lotus 21, driven by Simon Hadfield.
It was designed in 1972 (for the 1973 regulations change) by Forghieri and tested by Ickx before the Italian GP but never raced; it has a short wheelbase and very centralised weight distribution, and the rear wing was originally further forward. Forghieri then fell out of favour for a while, but was brought back to the F1 team in mid-1973. Paul M
