Well - Michael had P1 for about 5 mintues with 20 minutes remaining in the session then Alonso assumed P1 which held until almost the end of the session. Wurz was really flying in the beginning but as time went on he moved down the ladder. Half-way into the session on Williams were on track. No rain - dry conditions; track temp increased but remained stable at about 37 C; humidity went from 64% to 50%. Michael came back with < 1 minute remaining and did the fastest S1 followed in his next lap beating that time but when all said and done it was:

    Montoya 1:17.152
    Alonso 1:17:301
    Klien 1:17:511
    Michael 1:17:640
    GF
    AW
    MW
    RS
    DC
    RB 1:18.838
    NH
    KR
    JT
    JV
    VL
    FM
    RZ
    RD
    PF
    TM
    NK
    CA

Of course, it was just the first practice and the teams know what specifics they are testing for and the rest is just speculation on anyone else's part. It's very encouraging that MS did have P1.

Morning Carol... sitting at the office and watching live timing. I could go into the server room and watch it on the plasma screens but the admin is a prick.

    35 mins in...

    MS - P9
    RB - P11

    Ferrari forever!!!

Coulthard P3 and Liuzzi P7 is very good.
They'll do great this week-end in the Red Bull.

How come only 11 laps for MS in second practice? Almost everyone at the front did 20+ laps.

I would guess conserving the transmission and motor. Monaco is hard on the gears, so I guess he wants to have a bit of an edge on Sunday. I dunno its just speculation.

Monaco being a driver's circuit first and a car's second, this race could see some interesting outcome. I forgot how good DC is around Monaco. Same goes for JPM. So is DC in for a repeat of Melbourne and will Montoya finally beat the Iceman?

Also Michael is so good in general and in Monaco in particular, he might be in for a move towards the front. All he needs is a little bit of rain.

And best of all: Speed instead of CBS! Finally a live broadcast again. About time.
    :)

Just read, that Michael and Rubens made mistakes at the chicane and Michael eventually pulled out with vibration problems. Given all that, I'd expect him to do a lot better in the real qualifying session.

Vibrations? Let's hope it's not terminal and calling for an engine change......

They both were complaining of handling issues....so room for improvement...lets hope.

I predict neither Ferrari will finish the race and the winner will be Montoya or Alonzo.

Yes interesting. RB complaining of a handling imbalance ... I wonder if MS has the same issues and is performing miracles again? ... or we have some genuine improvements to come.

Worried about the vibrations that MS got ... due to tyres, that would have stressed the already stressed and known to be weak F2005 gearbox :(

    Good luck Ferrari ... :)

For Monaco there isn't any track action on Fridays. They do it on Thursday, take Friday off, then resume on Saturday.

    Morning Will -

What really sucked was Thrusday on Speed Tv - F1 was suppose to be on from 5-6pm - well about 4:55 pm there were 10 laps to go on some dingfod race held at night and they had the audicity to finish the race then interview everyone and their brother thus resulting in finishing about 5:20. I thought great they will run F1 in full - WRONG they started with 34 minutes left in the session and ended at 6 pm. I already knew what happened with F1 but it was the principal of the thing.

Best be up early this morning. I set my alarm for 4:30 and missed both practice sessions this am.

    Have a great day,
    Carol
