To watch the Scuderia stumble and bumble through yet another F1 Qualifying today at Monte Carlo is making me already yearn for next week's E.G.P. at Nurburgring. Rubens and Michael sit 2.5 seconds slower than Raikkonen, an incomprehensible result to the even the most realistic and rational Tifosi. Last year Michael won his sixth race of 2004 at the European Grand Prix and his teammate was right behind him. What a difference a year makes! This season is becoming too much to take. Comments from other disgruntled Tifosi cordially welcome. edit by Tillman -- added spoiler to title, moved to racing forum
Ferrari are not looking good. P10 & P11 Qualifying..... The order of the the reversal of the previous GP's results is just too frustrated to watch. When Liuzzi did his lap there was no grip at all. Prefer the 2003 qualifying format better. (order of the practice session) Let Jordan and Minardi have the dirty track. JV ...great, great lap. Same for Coulthard. It seems like it will be a Renault vs McLaren battle right up to the very end of the season.

After Bahrain, I gave Ferrari two more races to get their act together. I hate to say this, but, Ferrari will not repeat this year. Unless some miracle happens, in which Ferrari finishes 1, 2 for the rest of the season, it's not gonna happen. I think it's safe to say that the good ol'days are done. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.
Montoya has had his time DQed for brake testing Ralf and causing a three car pileup during practice session. So he will also start from the back with Ralf.
And Ralf had a half sec penalty added ... before he recycled his carbon fiber in the corner. Geez Max, why not just change to a "qualifying" system where King Max assigns the grid spots, and do away with all this thin farce. Gah. Watch for the Kimi DQ if he doesn't DNF. Season's over. Renault will win "by hook or by crook". (Or by a couple of crooks.) With PSA pulling both Citroen and Peugeot from WRC next year, FIA is really sucking up to Renault. I suspect nobody at FIA is going to bother reading their "survey".
It is pretty dismal to see Ferraris 2.5s behind the front-runners. It will take a miracle for MS to carve through the traffic and win or even finish on the podium. It is too bad to see Ferrari go from glory to bust in one short season. Looks like Kimi has the right package to win the race, almost at 0.5s faster than Renault they are definitely making a bold statement.
Time for the Scuderia to start working on the 2006 car. If tomorrow's qualifying doesn't change the running order I wonder whether Alonso's "launch control" will boost him by the Iceman. Jacques is carrying the Ferrari flag. Who expected that at the beginning of the season?
Actually I think he saved his job at Imola with his 4th place. Ever since the team lets him choose his own setup, he is feeling more comfortable with the car and is moving up. Of course today's qualifying helped as well, but let's hope he can keep it up in Q2 and in the race. However the replacement rumours have been squelched for now and as long as he delivers more than Massa he is safe.
*frustrating* Imperial, Just saw the news about Montoya. So yeah Ferrari P9 & P10... I'm disappointed, I wanted to see JPM up front.
The other drives seem to be faster in qualifying than practise, but MS is over a second slower!! Do the Bridgestone tyres take too many laps to come up to temperature for a qualifying sprint, or what's going on??
Ferrari's race strategy will make up for the difference. It is going to be a challenge but Michael and Rbens are more than up for it.
No he is being misqouted. Rubens stated that he fears that Ferrari may not be able to lap the competition.
Imperial, Remember you saying Montoya is too dangerous and we kill someone one day. (I don't agree) Look what Villeneuve had to say after the incident during practice... Villeneuve: Montoya could have Killed Me ''Canadian Jacques Villeneuve said he and spectators could have been killed by Juan Pablo Montoya's 'stupid and dangerous' driving at the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday. "How serious could it have been? It could have been me and a few people in the hotel dead," he said.''
I hope that Montoya's driving does not harm anyone else. I don't care what Montoya does with his own life, but if he continues to drive like this it will not be a very long one. Today's incedent was absolutely shocking! It was a big surprise that no one was seriously injured. Apparently even Webber had a work wth Montoya.
*He will kill someone one day* Not us. I don't know why today I'm not double checking my messages before submitting. I'll pay attention now... To tell you the truth, I didn't see the incident. Will have to watch the replay tonight.
It's about time they finally did something about his behaviour. (He's on the same level as Kurt Busch after reading an article in the paper this morning about his temper tantrums.) Quite honestly starting in the back is not nearly sufficient reprimand for what was done or what the ramifications could have been. Hopefully Ron Dennis will consider his Wurz or de la Rosa as his replacement. Carol
