    Scarbs has an interesting (or possibly mind-numbing) detailed explanation of actual telemetry/data acquisition from this year's Monaco GP. Cool stuff that rarely, if ever finds its way onto the internet.

    If you have a hat with a propeller on top, now is the time to fish it out of the mothballs.

    Thanks for posting that! He's inaccurate in his terminology sometimes, or flat out wrong IMHO (the part where he explains why the KERS data has no scale), but overall a great read.

    It popped up at F1 technical a while back - For some (at times somewhat heated!) discussion check out;

    Beware; Propeller heads only! ;)

    And, as much as it's fairly easy to figure out who's who (if it is indeed from FP1) please don't start speculating as to the jockeys / team involved - It's of no use and may result in the OP disappearing, which would be a shame.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    This is great stuff!

    Blue driver gets my vote:
    He is carrying more speed with later, stronger and smoother braking traces on entry and earlier up shifts on exit. But, note Blue has throttle/brake overlaps on entry to Sainte Devote, Massenet and Nouvelle Chicane. He’ll be lifeing his tires and brakes sooner and getting worse mileage than Red.
    Blue's driving style also has steeper steering inputs with less opposite lock spikes than Red. This is spooling the differential less everywhere which is better for Blue's gearbox reliability.

    Not knowing the complete team scenario I’d guess that Red’s tires may have been going off on this lap and Blue’s gearbox was on it’s 5th race. Oops!! I may have said too much
