I spoke to the dealer today out of curiosity. $27K is the reserve, so its going to sell...
There is a little rear window de-lamination in the corner and the front end has been repainted due to rock chips. Also mentioned was the carpeting in the front was coming apart at a seam (not sure where, but supposedly you can see it in a picture...drivers side maybe.)
The last major was done 8yrs and 2,000 miles ago, so add that to the final bid.
Other than that, the rep was really trying to sell it, however, I'm not buying anything sight unseen!!! Plus, I'm still holding out for a Series I GT4...;)
    FWIW, YMMV

I'm with you on that ;) I've been communicating with the dealer for a couple of weeks but couldn't find the time to fly up and take a look. Though I have been looking hard for a black one, the silver was really starting to grow on me. I hope someone gets a good car out of this.

He said it was a blue/grey color but it's hard to tell from here.

This silver on blue 3.2 coupe was my car for about 6 months, I sold it to a guy in NY for $30K. I think anywhere under $29K is a bargain, the car drove great when I had it, no issues, except for the discoloration near the rear window. I loved the interior color.

Darn, I wish I would have known that last night. Oh well, in this case, timing wasn't in my favor so it probably wasn't meant to be.

Someone is getting a nice ride. I like that combo..it different. There is a nice looking sera blue coupe for sale on the ferrariads section. Looks to be priced really reasonable too. If I had 20K sitting around I'd buy it to keep my Sera Blue T Cab company!

Thanks for the boost Greg, lol. But in this case it's been sold already. Plus I couldn't break away from the projects at work to fly up and see it. I am waiting on a new Ducati 1098 as a pacifier :D Still looking though.

Sorry I'm getting to the party late....

I saw the car, test drove it, even bought it - or at least, I thought I did.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when Mark Starr, the owner of Hunting Ridge, agreed to a price on a Friday (via email) and then reneged on the deal on Monday.

My dealings with Hunting Ridge was filled with inconsistancies from the begining and I was the one driving the sale to close quickly. I have asked for an explination as to why he pulled the plug on the deal, but I have no answers as yet.

I found Mark Starr to be unprofessional with scrupulous business ethics.

I can be more specific if anyone is interested.

Shocking. Over on Elisetalk Mark Starr is highly regarded. I contacted him about a year ago regarding a 355 and I found him to be very professional and efficient, although I didn't purchase the car.

Wow, what a turn of events! I'm confused. Also, on your profile and Avatar, is that a different silver Mondial? I heard that there were 4 owners of the one at Hunting Ridge although the ad said only 2. Sorry it didn't turn out for you, did you put down a deposit? It's yours' if he did...

Sorry to hear that the deal went sour! Any ideas if the car actually sold? Did you get anything in writing? Sales contract? Down payment made? If not your probably out of a car and it may have been sold to higher bidder, while you were in negotiations.

    I empathize with you.

THe number of owners is one of the inconsistancies...I have paperwork on owners in KS, GA (scaledetails) and the most recent one in NY. on my first visit I asked if the car was on consignment, and was told no. But later I found out that the car was tied up in a trade which may go south. But none of the inconsistancies were real red flags to worry about in themselves and I was comfortable with buying the car, pending PPI.

The real issue came up when the dealer wanted to have the PPI done by his guy (3rd party, not employee) and wanted to use another. Plus, I noticed pain dripings on one of the cheese graters and maybe painted screws inside the vents on both sides. I still wanted the car, pending PPI.

But I didn't give him the deposit and there is no contract; only an agreed deal via email.

The coupe in my avatar is my old car; it had a red interior. I really wanted the blue...and tried to buy this one when Scaledetails was selling a year or two ago.

But there is more to the story and even a second side (his, and very different) but it got real ugly and the dealer owner threatened to call the police so I am hesitant to say more online.

I'm sorry to hear about all of this. I had a feeling that this was a good car and worth buying but since I couldn't see it I had to let it pass. You looked at it, drove the car and still wanted it.

I was surprised that they lowered the reserve just before the end of the auction. Like they say, it ain't over until... Sounds to me like it may be the one for you and it's still worth pursuing.

I don't think anyone should feel too bad about losing out on this car. It has been on eBay a few times and other than the questionable ownership history the car clearly has taken a hit to the front and back (see eBay pictures) as there is just too much space between the bumpers and connecting body panels.

A car with the same color combo was discussed before and I vaguely remember something about the exhaust blowing blue smoke. I also inquired about (quite possibly the same) Mondial on Autotrader.com when the dealer provided no information in the ad other than "When the big dog runs, the puppies pee themselves on the porch." I decided to pass then and would pass now...

I was a little concerned about that too. But the same gap exists on the rear bumper and actually my old car isn't much different. My guess is that the car is ok, but I'm not really qualified to say...

I'm not really qualified to say either because I have not seen the car in person. Truth is the only reason I noticed those spaces is because my old Mondial 3.2 Coupe had them too. It is hard to make the bumper fit perfectly after the car has taken a hit because of the way the bumper is "delicately" hooked into the rest of the body (I'm sure there are more threads on this). The funny thing is that I have seen Mondials with too much space between body panels on official factory pictures. At times it can therefore be hard to tell if the space is just a bad fit or due to an accident. In the case of the Mondial at Hunting Ridge Motors the space above both bumpers is in my humble opinion big enough to be the result of a direct hit.
