    Hi everyone,

I have read in so many posts about how important a good ground connection is and that a good engine ground can make a big difference in the operation of the car in various ways.

Does anyone know how many engine ground straps there are on Mondials? Mine is a 1987 UK spec 3.2 coupe. Trying to source the part numbers to order them but is not so straight forward.

    Many thanks.

On my QV there is was only one. Heavy braided plated copper strap with large lugs. Unless it is frayed or otherwise deteriorated, I'd remove it, clean it and also the points where it attaches, and reassemble. I've used dielectric grease in an attempt to exclude contaminants.

I've also added supplemental grounds, "triple redundancy" and all that. I like to use external tooth "star" lockwashers where electrical conductivity is needed under adverse environmental conditions.

Do this and you'll be in fine shape.

Yes, I would agree it is important to have a good solid ground connection. It fixes alot of the gremlins for sure. Even my 07 Sahara needed a ground wire to solve my starting problems. The dealer couldn't fix it, I did my own research and solved it myself with a $6 gauge ground wire from battery to engine block. She starts ever time now.

Parts as listed on RicambiAmerica website:
    #41 part#115668 1 Earth cable for engine
This item has been superseded to a new part: 155073

#62 Part#116753 1 Copper braid from battery terminal hearth chassis
This item has been superseded to a new part: 155068

    As discussed by 308/328 guys:

btw, you might want to look at this main electrical connection at some point. Mine was cracked so I replaced it with new housing as they tend to get hot and crack the plastic.
Located left rear side under clutch slave cylinder for US spec cars, UK cars maybe opposite side.

Fantastic guys, exactly what i needed. I will order the new ground strap and should be straight forward to fit.

My car is currently at Ferrari having a new oil cooler which was leaking badly and also 2 new oil cooler pipes. Unfortunately the radiator is aluminium and the pipes have steel threads and the 2 metals just dont go well together and over many years they bonded and the threads stripped when they were removed. The 2 pipes are very expensive!!!

I am also having new shift shaft seals, they were leaking badly too. In fact they put a new one in and still leaked straight away. I’ve been told its all ok now. At the same time I had a wheel alignment done and mixtures checked. Then as i thought it was all over the clutch slave cylinder was also leaking badly! So I’m getting that changed too.

Oh well, at least it will be properly sorted when i get it back and my wallet will be in reverse mode:(

    Thanks:)

Tell me about it, I have been holding out on these leaks since i bought the car last year. I spent over $6000 in the first 12 months, but to be fair a lot of it was upgrades rather than repairs.

But hey, every time i get in it and go for a drive it makes me so happy and thats priceless, unbeatable:)

Thanks, its a Jeep Wrangler Sahara unlimited 4 door 4x4. Awesome DD IMO. Living in a Mid Atlantic State, you kinda have to have a winter car and a summer car. I've always had both for the last 15 years. It works out great and with my Sahara, its a convertible too, great on snow or sand at beach!

Looks great with the rear off, almost like a mini Hummer. Nice Ferrari sticker on the back:)

Haven't see those over here in the UK.

    Cheers.

Yep, i so agree. Ive been back n forth on getting one. I decided a Hummer H1 is just too darn big and the Unlimited is just right.

If i can get my head to stop spinning around on different cars i want next, the Jeep is what I'm sure i'll go with. Great beach and DD Imo

Hey Mike, not hijacked at all, I really like it. Just seen they're available here in the UK too.

Like Ted says, where do you stop. Every time I see something I want it. My local Ferrari dealership where my Mondial is right now just bought a vintage Maserati Merak ss in amazing condition with only 17k miles. They bought it to get it running to use for events and for customers. I need a bigger garage:)

Just watched all 4 parts and was brilliant!

So typical of the fuel gauges going up and down as they turned corners and the electrical breakdowns.

Not sure how old that show was but prices have gone very high since then.
