I conducted a thorough inspection of the engine last night and noticed that the small blow-by hoses (3" maybe) that attach to each cylinder bank are moist to the touch and have a greasy feel to them. Neither hose appears damaged in any way, and I know they were tightened about a month ago, when I first got the car. Is this normal? If not, they appear simple enough to replace, is there anything I would need to know before removing the clamps and swapping them out?

Most importantly, is this something that needs immediate attention or can I continue driving it until I get the parts.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is oil vapor present in those hoses - it might be that the hose somebody used is not the proper oil-resistant hose. If it is not oil resistant, it will bleed oil through the wall of the hose after a while and then the hose will fail. Though sometimes folks use standard vacuum line hose or heater hose because they have it handy, it should be hose that can handle oil. PCV hose (hose designated for Positive Crankcase Ventilation use) is sold for specifically that purpose.

In any case I'd suggest you obtain some new PCV hose and replace the existing hose.

Thanks guys. I found some high quality PCV hose in 19/32. Is that the correct measurement, or will it be too small?
