When I've not used my Mondial t for a week or so the two brake warning lights take maybe 10 to 15 seconds to go off after I turn the ignition on/start the engine, while the motor on the master cylinder runs and builds up pressure in the system (well I assume that's what it is doing)
The brakes seem fine and no warning lights ever come on while driving the car.

Is this OK or a sign of some leak in the braking system? I don't fully understand how the system works to be honest. What's that black sphere on top of the master cylinder that has a valve on top of it for?

That is working as designed. I am assuming the sphere your mentioning is an accumulator.
