...for starters, ebay guy has custom made ones for under $2k. I would first call local glass shops for a quote. Might be cheaper with the install price.

Thanks for the tip - much appreciated!

I'll check locally first, but this is a good "fall-back" option!

If you can't find a local source or someone parting out a car, Pilkington Classics make new glass for the Mondial. (Pilkington invented the float glass process, they are a big player in the auto glass market, established in the UK and now owned by a Japanese concern.)

    In USA, they're at http://www.pilkington.com/north-america/usa/english/automotive/agr/pilkington+classics/products/default.htm[url]

Last time I checked I think it was $1400 for a QV... but it's been awhile. I'm thinking of laying in a spare for when the inevitable happens. (Mine has a chip that was injected with plastic under the previous owner's care, no change since then, so I'm keeping fingers crossed.) BTW, the trim around the glass is preposterously expensive, use great care in removing the old and you might re-use it.

    All,

I paid $ 1700.00 for my New, Mondial Pilkington Glass. Too much,,,,, !!!! but it is pure quality...
    And, I had no trim.

I can source a Nice, New, Modern 2-piece, Trim for
the top and sides.... It is a Modern Type, mat-black plastic coated aluminum. It has only a small seam in the top middle of the frame.

My cost is cheap, I try for only 25% profets, on my parts sales.
Have to keep inventory low, not much room in my shop,,, for it now has two cars in it.
    ;)
PM me for cost and availability.

    Edwardo

You'll have to post the findings from your research when you are done laying out the costs for those of us who will likely need a new windshield in the future.

    Thanks,
