I did do a search for this but hope i am not covering too much old ground. The short question is "where is the min and max pressure switch"?

The story so far - There was no response from blower etc. From the wiring diagram i worked my way through checking fuses and relays. Next i pulled the A/C button switch out and found some dodgy contacts in it but after working it back and forth many times using different buttons and got it a bit more consistent. Plugged it back in and sure enough the blower is working. Started the car but no cool air and a warning light in that bank in the console for low gas in air conditioning. I thought i would check compressor but you could see the clutch wasnt engaged. I then pulled the wire from the compressor and attached an independent 12v source and clutch clicked in. This then made the warning light go off but still couldn't detect very cool air.

I need to bring an a specialist now i think to check gas, but thought I would try and check as much as possible myself - always good to familiarise yourself as much as possible. Looking at the wiring diagram, there is a wire from the compressor clutch to this min/max switch and beyond that it is a bit hard for me to tell, seems like same terminal goes to ignition switch and interior temp sender. I would have thought a source from the sender but not directly from ignition switch. But my best guess is that it appears for the circuit to be complete to the compressor clutch there must be a minimum pressure within the system and my guess is there is a leak somewhere and not reaching that pressure. But if I can find that switch then i can see if there is power getting that far.

Thanks in advance for any help. Also i picked up in my searches the Norwood p4 stainless switch components they make. From their site i sent an email but didn't get a response. Being in australia i was hoping they would just send me the components. If anyone has a current email for them that would be great.

He asked for "Mondial A/C help" and didn't mention that it was for his. Maybe it's his friend's car, or a customer's, or he has more than one.

It's intriguing to me... people ask for help but don't give the basic info beforehand. I used to get the same all the time when I was in IT, "My computer doesn't work". ;)

I agree, some folks should post more info, just trying to help.

What I like are the threads that are titled something like "Need help" or "problem."

Might go over fine in a low volume forum like this, but post it on my other car forum and I ain't reading it!

I could say that all Mondials, except the t, are generally the same but there are too many exceptions with each of them. :)

Thanks for the help - all solved. I have of course seen many of these switches over the years and not realised their function. I bypassed the switch and compressor clicked in fine. So had a mobile regas guy come by and it was low on pressure. He tested and the system held vacuum fine so he regassed and all works great. I know my car has sat around a lot over the last 10 yrs and this guy suggested that would do it and much better to be used. Will see how it goes. He also suggested that when the a/c is operating the fan should also be operating on the condensor, which it isn't. But that is more in my skill set to trace and see if wiring etc is ok for that. And for any dunces like me out there, that min pressure switch is important because the pressure is part of the effective lubrication of the compressor.... or that was my interpretation of what the A/C guy said. And now today my passenger window has decided to stop working.... next!

And just repeating the question - has anybody effectively contacted Norwood P4? Is it the same as the sponsor Norwood?

He's right :) Mondials that are driven are usually in better condition. Cars need exersize to stay in form.

You refer to the A/C switch? I know these guys repair switches, but I have no experience with them.

Yep that's the place i am referring too. Have sent 2 emails to 2 different addresses on their contact page but no reply. Might have to try an international call. There are 2 more emails there i can try yet though, just wondered if anybody else had any luck. Thankyou.

If I remember correctly they were purchased by another company recently so I expect they are going through typical merger difficulties. You might Google them ands see what pops up.

You should Skype-Out them. It costs very little.

Thanks Wade, its easy to not think of circumstances like that. Will leave it a few weeks and then try an email sent to all the addresses on their site. No rush my end.
