Not to be a smart-ass, but if you're in Blythewood, aren't you only 1.5 hours away? Seems like you'd want to put your own eyes on them for such a small drive.

If you're not in SC all the time, I can look at them for you. I will be in Greenville one day next week and could stop by.

My screen says you posted this at 3:08!!!!

I would definitely take the GTS over the Mondial for a number of reasons, most of which have been discussed in the 308 section.

Might I suggest that you give them a call and get the serial numbers for the cars? I checked the ads earlier and there is minimal information including no photos. If you can get the serial/vin number (Last five digits would be sufficient) there are a LOT of resources here on FChat that can probably tell you the history of the car.

The ad may be intentionally vague to cover up facts about the cars OR it could be just someone who has no idea how to go about marketing a Ferrari. Personally, I think the 15k for the Mondial is a pretty good deal any way you cut it. The Mondial is probably a "i" car which is rated at 205hp. In a lot of ways it is kind of considered the ugly duckling of the more modern Ferraris - just like the GT4s were before. The GT4s are NOW starting to become the more serious driver cars even among the more serious Tifosi. But the Mondial is still a great entry-level Ferrari. It makes all the right sounds, all the right smells, is easy enough to work on for the most part, and comes with its own subsection right here on FChat and all the support that comes with it. Even if the car needs a full major service figure 5K on top of the 15k and you are sitting in a Ferrari for 20k total!!! Nothing wrong with that at all.

The 30k for the GTS may not be too bad if the car has all of the ducks lined up the right way. There are just a LOT of unknowns that wont be discovered until you (or someone) makes the phone call. The advantages here are that the car is simply one of the most beautiful cars ever built. It is purely iconic. This one is obviously a QV, so its up on hp compared to the Mondial. The drivetrains are a bit bulletproof. But, if the car hasnt had a recent major add the other 5K to the price to cover the unknowns just as in the Mondial.

If you are interested in it I would be happy to even make those calls for you since I know a bit more about the questions to ask, etc... Send me a PM or an email if you want me to explore it further. But once we have the serial/vin we can likely find out a LOT more about the cars and their history either way.

I do have some other resources that could help if you wanted one or the other of these cars....or there are plenty more out there as well.

thanks for the replies, I called the owner and he sounds very motivated to sell, and offered any interested parties to call and inspect the cars. He stated that he bought the Mondial only about a year ago.

I don't think I'm in the market for a Ferrari yet, but appreciate learning more.

I studied and learned for many years before I got my car. Still, nothing prepared me for seeing it in my garage every day and the reactions of those around me to the car. It still gets me excited when I even see the keys, much less the car itself.

Did you get the vins by chance?

Googled his phone number and apparently he's selling an NSX also for $19k. Anyone want to
offer him $50k for the lot!

sorry I didn't get the VIN numbers--he stated he is trying to finance a home or home upgrade.

If I had enough, sure I'd buy all three!

This is Sam Todd, in Powdersville. He said the 308 was purchased locally. What are these 84 308s bringing? Any idea? I may take a look at it next week.

Wide range from $28 - 45K asking price. Apparently most are selling around $35K. I guess
Patrick would have a better idea of what to look for in a 308.
