Quick question hopefully. How often does the cambelt need to be changed on a: 1. Mondial 3.0 QV 2. Mondial t Different fish I know... Thanks in advance.
You may think this is a quick question, but be prepared for a long list of answers with widely varying responses. FWIW, my opinion is 5 years or 30,000 miles. I have heard from others a range of 3 years or 15,000 to 7 or 30,000. Some have said 15 years which seems to be beyond a stretch. I don't think models of Mondial matter that much when dealing with cambelt change. Remember that the belt is just a part of the system, and that the tensioners are just as important to replace/adjust if needed during the service. I think it is safe to go 5 years or 30,000 without a set of eyes looking at the pulleys, belts, and tensioners.
Very true, a lot of opinions for sure. My personal opinion would be: Mondial 8 and QV - 5 years/30,000 mile Mondial T - 3 years/30,000 mile. The reason for the eariler check on the "T" is that there is only one belt running all four cams and the water pump. Also, with the extended size of the belt, the amount of stretch and wear is compounded. the 8 and QV motors run two much smaller belts that only run 2 cams each. Best regards, Jim
Bit of an "old chestnut" this one as the service recommendation varies between US cars and Euro cars, however UK spec cars are as follows :- Mondial QV 25,000 - 37,500 or every two years (whichever comes first) Mondial 3.2 21,750 - 28,000 or every two years (whichever comes first) Mondial t 21,870 - 28,125 or every two years (whichever comes first) These data is in miles not km.
