The dealer from whom I ordered mine told me that it was to be released some time in August. So, any day now, any day now.

talked to Rita at Cavallino yesteray. She says that while the scheduled release was August, she received an email this week saying a possible 30 day delay due to paint problems in China.

DING DING DING! You don't win anything though.

I recieved an email from Mattel regarding this issue Wednesday.
Here is a Quote: "As result of the recent discovery that one of our vendors used non-approved paint with impermissible levels of lead, we are undertaking comprehensive testing of all Fisher-Price and Mattel products. We believe this is the right thing to do, but it will slow down our shipping ability over the next 30 days."

I just noticed that the regular hotwheels (not Elite) have just gotten up in price on Replicarz to Almost $40! this is insane. This would mean that even if you are a member of their preferred buyers' program (which cost a subscription of roughly $30) you still would pay about $10 more (even after your member's discount) than most other places.
This whole HW/Mattel-Ferrari-exclusive deal is getting out of control. They are selling crap for premium price and we are the suckers that have no choice but buy it because no one else can make F-models.
I think we should all send an e-mail at least once a month to Ferrari with our concerns. Maybe when their mail gets jammed with the same complaints every month they may look into it. It is just beyond me haw can a POS model like the Super(laughable) Elite' to cost as much or more, as a true masterpiece like the CMC or BBR 1:18 models.

By the same logic we should not even think of complaining if they make the gas $5 here in the US

I'll be attending the big annual Italian Car show in the Grapevine/Dallas area again on this September 22,2007 date and I'll ask around to see if anyone has any updated news on the upcoming Elite Modial Coupes.Hopefully by this late September date we should know something. There should be some hobby shops in the area to check out.

I have been waiting so long for the day I would finally have a Mondial in 1/18 scale. It looks very nice although I've got to get used to the black side grills. Here is the link to the pictures:

Hopefully Kyosho will soon follow with an even better 3.2 and/or a T.

Wow. I guess they sent all the lead based paint ones to France...

Is it just me, or does it look like the car has the 3.2/t wheels? Guess they must read FerrariChat about wheel upgrades!

    OBTW - I've pre-ordered three....

What'z up with the black side grills??? I'm holding out for the super elite version and I'm hoping that they don't put the black grills on them. I don't think the real 1:1 Mondial had black grills just the same body color which IMO looks better. That's Hotwheels for you!

Actually, many of the first few built had the black side grilles, then they started painting all the later ones.
I think I'll do the same and wait for the SuperElite version, it would be nice to have while I am waiting to find a deal on a real one.

Ferrari started painting the side grilles body color with the introduction of the mondial t. the ones that are painted black and the ones that are red also have a different shape.
