I've never purchased anything from TRutlands, but Ted is an old school kinda guy. If I had my best white shirt on, I would buy a melting ketchup Popsicle from Rutland if he said I needed it. I think you'll be okay.

Would be nice to know the reason for the salvage and the true miles..... the engine looks IMO to have a lot of georgia miles on it. Hard to say for sure, but at least in the pics it looks okay.... maybe someone lives close by to take a look for you. 6 hours may not be enough, but you can always deal with Rutlands off ebay.

Aw, shucks, no data plate pictures, Ted...? I'd love to know the date of production of this car. Maybe even the engine number... :)

Ted is a great guy, i can't imagine you're getting a bad deal. If you can live with the salvage history, then it's a good buy for a 3.2 car. Drive the hell out of it.

I bought a car from Ted about 6 years ago and I had some trouble getting title, he is a great guy and was not worried, but it did take a bit. Just FYI

I know this car, and have driven it. I looked at it last summer for sale in Jackson, MS. I would be very curious as to how it ended up at T. Rutlands. The last place I saw it was at Capitol Motorsports in Jackson, MS on consignment sale in June I think. The salesman told me he just had an offer for $33K on it but was unsure if the owner would accept it. Knowing the history of the car, I am pretty sure he was full of BS. It was gone soon thereafter, so I assumed it sold. have you seen the car in person? I have a TON of high-res pictures of every inch of the car I took during my inspection I would be happy to send you. It drove very well and sounded great. It does have a lot of small, mostly cosmetic, issues that will require attention, in addition to the major service. From what I can remember off the top of my head, the wheels have been repainted and it is bubbling off, the oil temp gauge does not work, glove box switch intermittent, mounts for rear exhaust grille are all broken off except for one (it is BARELY hanging on by a thread!), a very few door dings, driving light broken, front spoiler broken from its mounts on passenger side, some other lights and switches not working I think, radio power cuts out intermittently, suspension bushings could stand replacing, has the usual small oil leaks. As you can see, nothing major, but a lot of little things that can add up if you want to make it perfect. As best I can tell from having looked at the records myself, there are probably at least 10-15K more miles on it than indicated. I came to that by noting the number of years the odometer was not working, and the average miles it was being driven per year up to that point. It did have a tan leather top cover when I looked at it, you should make sure it is still with the car (not shown in ebay pics). Call me if you want....I'd love to tell you all the details about it. 601-613-6351

I think the price they offered it to you for is a pretty good deal, especially if they are throwing in belts and tensioner bearings. I would have bought it for that price, but the owner would not come that low when I was looking at it. As someone else said, it is a GREAT buy for a 3.2 cab. Do keep in mind that cracked front driving light is about $1000 to replace if you are picky about stuff like that! It drives straight and true, feels tight, shifts well, brakes well, has a strong engine that makes all the right noises and none of the wrong ones. Good luck with it, I wish I could have gotten it at that price, but I do love my Mondial 8 I ended up with!

Based on the prior salvage history, odometer issues and various cosmetic problems I would say that their asking price is right on the mark. You get what you pay for. I would consider it a deal if they would also INSTALL the new timing belts and tensioner bearings instead of just including them. I have only purchased parts from Rutlands, but found them very reasonable and pleasant to deal with.
