    hi guys,

ive just started my '84 Mondial QV for the first time in a few weeks,
(its having a full cosmetic make-over) and i went to move it, but nothing!!

engine running, clutch pumped a few times, engage gear, then.........
nothing! so ive got the car running with the gear in reverse, then 1st,
with the clutch released, and no-go!!

the previous owner did say he had to bleed the clutch before i picked it up,
but that was over a year ago, and i had no problems the last time i moved it!

    anyone with any idea's..........

    cheers

    Steve,

Having just run into this with my Mondial - try this - it turns out that the shift gate (on the console that guides the shift pattern) was loose and causing the shift linkage to not mesh properly inside the gearbox. All it takes to fix the situation is to tighten the 2 phillip head screws on the shift gate. I hope this is the cause of your problem since it is a quick, no cost solution.
    Good Luck.

Steve -- (If not related to AAG49's suggestion) With the engine running, can you select different gears without pushing the clutch pedal down? (like the throwout bearing mechanism is stuck in the "out" position and the clutch is always disengaged.)

This is an unusual one I think. You need to establish whether or not you are getting a gear. Just "put" the car in gear and be sure in your mind it's in gear, see previous post, and try starting, if the car moves, it's finding a gear and the problem is as described earlier, if not then things are a bit more sinister.
It could be that the master or more likely the slave cylinder is stuck "open" but I confess that this not one I have seen.
So in the absence of serious gear crunching noises maybe the clutch plate is stuck in the disengaged position, second best worst option in my opion.
After that my guess is the problem lies in the tranfer box.
    Good luck !!

When I had this problem, it was a mis-aligned shifting fork. My clutch pedal fealt like it was disconnected.
