Mondial glove box light question

On the rare times my glove box hasn't wanted to open I've had very good luck swiping across the top of the opening with a credit card to push the plunger down. If I'm not mistaken it's about a 3rd of the way from the left side, although I'm sure you could see it if you really looked into the crack. Might be worth a try.

 

Does the above work to open the glovebox? I'd try that now but it's about 3AM and I'd wake up a neighbor or two starting the car next to the Mondial and backing it out of the garage
