Any tips on how the instruments, etc are held in place on a 3.2 Mondial (I would assume that all models 8 - 3.2 are much the same)? My speedo & bonnet/engine/boot etc push-buttons are starting to part company with the dash but dammed if I can see how they clip-in. They'll be sitting in my lap very soon!

    Thanks,
    Cam.

These are a tricky one to remove. The first thing you must do is remove the plastic frame that surrounds the gauge face. This frame fits quite tight and will required a fair bit of force to pop it off. Once removed the screws that hold the gauge assmebly inplace will be visable. Remove the speedo. Now you have access to the read of the switches to the far left. You can now work on removing them.

I popped mine out a few years ago. I'm tall and I couldn't see the tops of all the gages, so I moved them all out 1".

You pop off the gage frames around the speedo & tach to get to the screws. I removed all of the gage screws, fabricated some plastic supports for each end, put in 1" stand-offs for all the screws, and put it all back together. Now I can see my gages properly, and you can't tell I even did anything.

The parts manual exploded views help a lot. I have an electronic copy if you need one, so email me if you want a copy.

OK, got the tach & speedo sorted, but the fixing mechanism is just so cheap - 4 small gauge screws per instrument trying to hold into a fibreglass surround by only about 1/4" !!

Two of my screws have pretty-well stripped-out the FG & the others aren't far behind. I will have to replace them with a heavier gauge screw in future, or the whole lot will fall out.

BTW, how do the block of 4 small gauges (temp, press, etc) on the side come out? I popped-off the front covers but only got to the white instrument surrounds underneath - no screws to be seen.

Certainly zertec! I see now that the small gauges are all one piece with the odo/clock unit. How is the RHS of that unit held in-place? That is the edge that is "loose" on my car. Your photo doesn't show any fixings there.
