Hello Friends, My '83 Mondial QV Coupe' carries the following VIN, ZFFLD14B0000xxxxx - which is wrong, well incorrect according to the rules of 'VIN-isity'. The second 0 in position (10) should be a D as that is the code for 1983. And of course, this error makes the check-digit (9) wrong also. Still, that's how my car is registered, labeled, insured and titled. But here's my question; The model-specific code is the LD14B part. Bluemel uses WD21C in an example. Anyone know what these 'model specific' codes mean or how to decode them? thanks! rick
I think your VIN is OKish -- the "rules" that you think are wrong don't apply to euro version (i.e., 10th digit = D = 1983 only applies to north america, middle east, and latin america versions, and same for the 9th check digit -- all euro = 0) Go to www.red-headed.com -- click on "articles" -- the VIN decoder is at the bottom of the page. PS -- update your Profile and include version!
