Just ruined my red non Elite Mondial trying to remove the damned useless 6oth anniversary "stickers".
I have looked everywhere for decal removers and I finally got the idea to use a tea kettle to steam them off. I started on the ones located on the rear fenders. When I thought I had it soft enough I tried gently scraping it off with my finger nail and took a small part of it off with the paint.Apparently there was no primer used on the metal.
So I drove to the store and got non-acetone finger nail polish remover to see if I would have any luck getting the stickers off the doors as they are plastic.I must have used too much and now I have ruined the paint on the plastic door.

After all this time and excitement of getting one of the first models I'm throwing the whole frigging thing in the trash as there is no way to get the paint to match!

    Anyone having any luck?

So far the my luck at waiting for the non-sticker Elite has gone unrewarded... I thought about going with the regular stickered version, and trying to remove them - glad I didn't. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Sorry to hear this about your model...you can try now painting it black or another color, try your hand a little customization.

Luckily it was not an Elite

Mine sat at home for a couple of weeks untouched and then I went and bought a new Ferrari book and in it a saw few cool pictures of Mondi Cabs, so before even trying to remove any stickers( actually I believe they are tampoo printed images) I took my dremmel and removed the roof. The whole thing was going to get repainted anyway, so why not?
Something that I noticed is that this model is not build anything like a Hot Wheels and a lot like a Kyosho. Very high detail and clever engineering in this model. It was obviously worked very hard to downgrade it, but it is still evident it is something else. Also if anyone has noticed, unlike almost any other model before there are no "mint without box" MOndial Elites on e-bay. This makes me think that it is made in a different factory, like the Kyosho.
Anyway, it would be done pretty soon and I'll post pictures.

I removed the 60 anniversary logo from the plasctic hood of a black non-Elite F50. I did it by repeatedly putting only a few drops of nail polish remover on a white t-shirt and then rubb it very carefully. It worked on the plastic. However, it did not work on the metal doors where I ended up removing some of the black paint. I have cursed Hotwheels for putting this cheap, ugly logos on these cars. It would have been much better if they had delivered the logos loose in the box instead of sticking them on the cars. Hotwheels just doesn't get it! I have two non-Elite Mondials and I think I am going to take them apart and put the doors and the hood in warm water for a day and see if they come off. I will let you know of the outcome... These cars are almost worthless to me with the logos on them.

I know that nail polisher doesn't work too well on plastic, but never had any problems with it on metal. Here is my silver de-decal-ed 60th anniversary enzo:

I have removed decals several ways. For adhesive backed stickers, You can put tape over the decal, but only on the decal itself and slowly remove it by pulling the tape back at a sharp angle. Aonther way is to dab
3M Adhesive and Wax remove at the edges until the adhesive weakens or you get high enough not to care. Use a little at a time, be patient and use in a well ventilated area. If the decal is the traditional model kind printed on a laquere film, it can be soak in warm water for awhile to soften it and rubit off. If you have messed up the paint anyway, you have a good model to experiment on. Tony

Have you trying using Goo Gone? This stuff works great on stickers with adhesive backings. It doesn't work instantly, it can take several minutes to loosen up the adhesive.

I used non-acetone NPR on the 60th black F50 with no problems, the hood & doors are metal , not plastic.

Thanks to everyone for the advise.I have finally given up on trying to rid my Hot wheels non-elite Mondial 8 of its sorry 60th Anniversary decals. After many years of model cars I've never seen anything like them. These decals are ginormously stout. They sure do a good job of wrecking a decent model at the Hotwheels factory.

To help everyone out I'm listing each of my attempts so you all will be spared.
    (1)Dishwashing detergent-No help.
(2)Steam from a tea kettle-Took the decal AND the paint off.
    (3)GOO GONE-No
    (4)Polly Scale decal softener-No
(5)Non-Acetone nail polish remover-Took the decal AND the paint off.
    (6)Isopropyl alcohol 70% strength-No
    (7)Isopropyl alcohol 91% strength-No

Not very sophisticated, but I left the decal containing pieces soak in water for 10 days, then I was able to scrape them off with my fingernail without damaging the paint below.

A bit weird, but it worked.

Wow-something as simple as water! I know you posted that you were taking the doors and hood off to soak them. What about the very small decals just above the rear wheel area?

Is this Enzo the same quality as the standard Enzo (meaning non-Elite) or did they manage to downgrade it? Like this it would make my Enzo list complete and I have some special memories to an Enzo in this color (see my avatar picture).

Thanks for the water soak idea Snj5. Glad it worked for you. I received my second one in the mail today and I'll disassemble it tonight and start soaking it for its 10 day period.Have your rear ones above the rear wheel wells come off yet after the soaking in the pot? Hopefully second time is the charm for me!

FWIW... My Elite Modial is sitting in the mail room at work. I will retrieve it as soon as I get there - of course I'll post pics.

(Kyosho Plexi-Daytona is in the box with it...)

Non-acetone Nail polish remover works on metal with no problems , been using it for years. I just recently started to use brake fluid (Walmart, about $3.50 or so) to remove the tampos on plastic, works great, but takes about 3 times longer then using NANPR on metal . I'm using the brake fluid method to remove the stripes on a bunch of HW GT500's I just bought. Another method is Acrylic Thinner , although it takes alot longer then brake fluid . Acrylic thinner & brake fluid also work on clear plastic without leaving any marks.

    Hey snj5,
Thanks for the 10 day soak tip for decal removal on my non-elite Mondial.I bought another model and tried it and it worked! Did soaking the body in the pot of water remove the decals located above the rear wheel wells? Did the body have any rust on it from the soaking?
    Thanks

    Finally !!!

10 months after this thread was started I got my Non-Elite MONDIAL full of horrible 60th anniversary ugly stickers

1)I droped my car into a water container .
    2) left it underwater for 24 hours ...
    3) those stickers can be easily removed by pulling with bare fingernails ....

Now looks much better without those awful stickers :)

P.S. desirable stickers such as the badge and others won't peel away if you don't touch them

NO rust, as the MONDIAL seems to be plastic made instead of metal.

Congrats on the 24 hour water.I took the plastic doors and front hood off and soaked them in water for about 10 days and then carefully scraped them off with my fingernail.

I was afraid that I would rust the metal part of the body by soaking it to remove the small round decals located above the rear wheels so I placed the metal body part in the freezer for half a day and was able to scrape them off again with my finger nail!

No more cheap, ugly 60th Anniversary decals.
