Having decided my intermittent starting hassle is the solenoid and or starter, I decided to fit a complete new unit, having been quoted a lot of money, told it was a nightmare job, had to leave it all day as well as 1 full days loss of earnings to take my Mondial 3.2 to a specialist to have the starter replaced, (£450 plus vat plus fitting etc) which I located in Germany from Bosch. at 1/2 the price ,so i decided to fit it myself, hey ho, 20 minutes later new unit fitted, easy,,
    heres how
you need a ramp or lift to do it easily, disconnet the battery bearing in mind this may knock out your alarm and radio code settings, so get them first,
raise the lift, go under the car, the starter is fitted under the rear cylinder bank tucked neatly under the back exhaust manifold, so wait till it cools for safety sake, remove the 10mm lower heat shield bold, bend back the shield to access the wiring terminals, a spade terminal for the solenoid and one large nut secures the two main wiring cables from the battery, using long extensions, a wobbly joint and socket you can remove all three securing bolts accessing them from the front of the rear passenger side wheel area , pushing the socket through the space frame, easier using an air ratchet, hey presto, the starter is lose, leave the bolts in situ, no need to take them out, lower the back of the starter down, loose it from the casing , rotate it 180' degree so the solenoid is the opposite side and wiggle it through the various frames and bars to come out beside the same passenger rear tyre area,,,, remember how it came out, reverse the process, resecure three bolts, attach main feed wires and soleniod terminal,, bend back the alloy heat shield and refit 10mm bolt, reconnect battery, hey presto , starter fitted in under 20 minutes,,
a saving of squillions of ££££ to go and spend in the pub or a BIG tub of Swissssssssol
    good luck
