I have installed Daylight Running Lights on my QV to give the car an up-to-date light signature in traffic - for the same reason I installed a third stop light years ago.
The Philips LED DayLight 4 kit comes with 2 lights, holders, the control box, screws, cable ties and instructions. Some mild modification to the wiring was necessary to have it fit the Mondial (combining two ground wires into one, repositioning of the fuse, lengthening of the +/- connections).
The + goes onto the battery's + terminal, the 2 combined ground wires go to the ground connection just outside of the battery compartment. The orange "lights-on" trigger wire gets clip-connected to the parking light wire at the fuse box. Legally, the DLRs must be on when the engine is running, but off when the lights are on (as it is not day when you need lights, and the DLR are not actually shining onto the road but are very bright so dazzling to oncoming driver at night). I mounted the smartbox - it detects alternator signals in the vehicle's electric system when the engine runs and turns on the DLRs unless it also receives a "lights on" signal from the orange wire - is on the partition between the rad and the spare wheel. The box includes a check LED that comes on when you have identified the correct trigger cable. Cables ties hold wires in place, and the lights wiring passes through the same opening as the horn hose, behind the compressor, and follows the same path down to the air intake.

I am always grateful and appreciative of those who take on these sorts of tasks with such quality! I am a duffer and I know it. I have some experiences worth sharing, and I share them without apology. But I always marvel at such care and craftsmenship!

    Well done!

quick question, instead of adding additional light strips, why not wire up the parking light (alternatively the fog lights, depending on how often you possibly would miss them), it is already there.

A similar plan for my 3.2 (convert the fog/flash-to-pass lights to DRLs) but I sold the car...

I wired my 911 and Boxster this way but my x5 and smart cars were a direct connect to fuse box aux line, DRL on when key in ignition and engine running.

The 1st option is you always have to turn it on manually and sometimes forget they're on in daytime.

Very nice. They look very good, very elegant as many have commented.

I would be tempted to put a few more on, but I think 2 is nice.

    Thanks for your comments Gents.

Braq, there are a few reasons besides the up-to-date light signature I installed DLRs vs driving with the
    - low beams up (legal as a substitute in countries requiring DLRs) > drag on the highway/looks
    - parking lights only on (illegal for driving in most countries) > not bright enough to be of any use in daylight
    - fog lights only on (illegal in most countries unless there is fog and combined with low beams)
    - spot lights only on (which is illegal unless combined with high beams)

hahaha, "déformation professionnelle" as we say

I prefer the obvious things on my car to be legal so I won't get pulled over for "nothing"...
