I need help in setting the adjusting screw on the venturi on my 83 Mondial QV. The screw sets the idle rest position of the throttle-plate (butterfly) inside the venturi. Owner's Manual says it is set at Factory. My CD-ROM Workshop Manuals are not complete and do not cover that adjustment. So I backed the screw out until the throttle plate was closed completely as evidenced by no further drop in engine RPM (and no further movement against the stop.) Then turned it down by 1/2-turn to avoid any binding. I then adjusted the big air bypass knob underneath to finally set the idle speed at 1,000 rpm.

Does anyone know what the correct procedure is?

by the two books and the manual you did it near correctly. The book says to put a piece of paper between the screw and stop. Back off the screw just until the paper slides out. then turn IN the screw 1/2 turn. Then set the big idle air bypass to 1k+-.

Thanks Hackrider for the info. I had used a procedure similar to that for the older Mercedes FI engines.
