Can somebody please send a picture of their Mondial rear brake setup. i can't remember how/where the outer "spring-clamp" is installed. I have the calipers and brake pads installed and can't figure out how to install the wire type holder on the outside of the brake caliper. I remember it being fairly easy to remove but having problems with my memory. i have the service manual but the pics don't help. Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

My driver's side rear brake caliper is defective. It is the old type (as shown in the picture above). It seems that the piston is stuck. Is there a source for a rebuilt one or has someone restored his and could give me some advice, please?

    Thanks in advance...

    Walter

P.S. It is the "old" brake system which was installed up to chassis #43011. The pads for it can be seen here:

John at Goldline brakes can rebuild that for you. He is spot on and has a great turn around. Look up Gold Line Brakes in Seattle Washington.. Give John a call, send him your caliper and he will take care of the rest. Very reasonable as well.

    Thanks Robbie.

I will look closer to my neighbourhood (Montreal, Canada) first and if that fails, I will certainly contact John.

Same Caliper on the old system as a porsche 914 just has a spacer installed to widen the caliper. Look up rebuilding porsche 914 rear calipers on the internet for parts and instructions.

Your brake caliper for the rear is the same as 1999 Kia Sephia front caliper and pad. - local parts store should have all parts you would ever need including hardware and for cheap cheap cheap.

I am running the pads on my 87 3.2 Coupe I know this is correct not a guess and yes you can get them in better compounds than most kia buyers might buy.

I guess it would be too nice that the disk also fits the Mondial?

    Joe & Walter,

I believe the Old Ferrari Euro (like I pictured above), ATE calipers were on the 914-6 only. And, on the front.
    :)
They are also made of Aluminum, better then our Iron units, less sprung weight on the rear A arms. But, the bleed screws need to be relocated.
I have been searching for a set.

I have owned 14, 914's and currently have a 914-6 - The alum calipers were only on the Early "S" 911's as an option - never on the 914. The 308 and the 914 share the same rear caliper ie the Hand Brake arm, The only diff is a spacer between the 2 halfs to widen the caliper.

I know my Porsche's very well, The 914 and 911 rear calipers are nothing alike, The 911 has a handbrake asym inside the rear disk that acts like a drum brake.
