My 1988 Mondial i recently purchased has a rear window problem. The Pass side goes up and down fine but the driver rear window does not move
How do i find out if its the switch or the motor.Testing for power at the window when the switch is activated and not when the swirch is in the off position?

Before doing anything try spaying the heck out of the switch with Deoxit D5. (You can get it at Fry's Electronics, if there is one near you. It's not the same Deoxit that you can buy at Radio Shack.) When I bought my car the rear trunk and hood release buttons, gas door release button, horn, emergency flasher button, and glove compartment release button did not work. Seriously. I've gotten all of them to work with some simple cleaning.

Unfortunately, the one button that I haven't gotten to work is the passenger side window. (My rear windows don't go down, as I have a Coupe.) Wo we're in similiar situations (except you can't put your top down!). It's worth a shot trying to clean the switch, though...

Dont believe thats the problem i tore the rear center console apart and the rear window switches are the same so i onhooked the pass side switch and hooked it to the driver side wiring harness and it still didnt work and i took the driver side(inoperable side)switch and hooked it to the pass side and it worked so i believe that eliminates the switch, only one fuse and one relay so i think im down to the motor and boy i hope its fixable at the motor or repairable because there hard to find and very expensive but i need to fix it also my driver side seatbelt wont pull out so i will tackle them both at the same time have you tore in to yours yet?

I've just finished with the rear windows on my 83 Cab. Access is made by removing the oil cooler intake grille (very carefully). There is one screw at the rear of the grille. Remove it and slide the grille forward to clear the retaining tabs on the front of each fin. Pry them away from the body very carefully. After removing the grille, you will see an access panel. Remove it and you can get into the window compartment. Pull the harness out and hot wire it directly to the battery. This will let you know if it's the motor. There is an excellent thread on the rear window rebuild. Read it before disassembly, as there are about 43 tiny ball bearings ready to escape.

It shows how helpful Fchat is between members.

It also reminds me how despite Mondials are bulletproof drivetrain-wise the stuff like electric windows going off can drive you to drink.
