Just a fun note to my Mondial buds.

As we all know, the Mondial speedo is a bit optimistic, and most of us get used to doubling the tach reading in 5th when we 'need' to have a real idea how fast we are going. Of course this doesn't work in lower gears.

Anyway I wanted to have a little taller gearing on the car for cruise, and since re-doing the transmission was impossibly expensive, I opted for a slightly taller tire: a 235/50-17 with a 26.6 diameter. This brought my cruise gearing to a about 21mph/1000 rpm

Well, an interesting side effect has been that the speedometer is now ALMOST accurate - certainly very close to within 1 - 3 mph.
    Really helpful in lower gears.

    Just an interesting side story.

That's because you Kiwis have more sheep than people, and we have more radar speeding traps than you have sheep! :)
