    Hi Everyone,

So, over the winter I bought a very nice 180 MPH speedometer from a fellow F-Chatter (great guy!) back in the UK. I finally am getting around to installing it, as mine only goes to 85 MPH, but I noticed something odd - there are no turn signal indicators or high beam indicator in it, like my old one. This to me begs 2 questions..

    1. Where are they on the car I got the speedo from - in the tach?
    2. What do I do? I'm torn.. I think I would rather have a speedometer that went past freakin' 85 MPH (or maybe it's 75 I can't remember) than have a turn signal indicator.. or do I modify the 180MPH speedo to have the indicators in it?

Arrrgh.. I thought it would be plug / play.. so annoying.

P.S. this is no bash on the guy I got this from! He's been a wealth of knowledge and help since I bought it, on many other topics and is a super guy. :) Just want to make sure that is clear.. :)

Don't know about plug and play on a speedo. Used to have a DeLorean with an 85 mph speedo. Got a new 170mph speedo and had to redo the insides. The speedo cable had to be replaced also. Don't know where or what controls the speedo in a mondial, but the cable that spins it will spin at the same speed, obviously, but the dial on the speedo if not recalibrated will be in the same position, ie at 80 when doing 40. Good luck with the change over!

See the "instruments and controls" section of the OMs -- on the euro version Mondial8, the turn signal indicators are in the rectangular array of lights between the speedo and tach (on the US version, they probably had to use some of those lights for other stuff).

Even if the connector halves physically fit together, I'd be careful about just plugging the euro version in without first confirming that the wiring was/is compatible with the US version wiring harness.

hmm, ok thx guys. The wires are actually the same, it's just missing a couple (where the indicators would be).. I'll see what I can dig up. I was hoping maybe they were in the tach.

To answer the question about the cable, there isn't one - it's "electronic" :)

I believe it might be a mondial 8 versus QV difference. Maybe.

Even though it is electronic, the electrics in the car may be wired for the lower speedo.

With the way the mechanism works, that really isn't possible.. but it's a good thought. I actually thought of that myself but researched it more and found that this one will work, it really is just a matter of figuring out how to get the one that looks / works right.

WHAT you have is a EURO version speedo, just like mine, the signal lights are in the center top of all the other idiot lights, along with the high beam, these cars did not have the lights for the slow down for the cats........Ang

    Hi James.

I haven't been on here for a few weeks so I'll chime in.

As stated in a post above the indicator lights are on the centre warning panel (see pic)

    Regards Pete
