Mondial t 1993 main cooling hoses to remove for engine out ?

    Hi , just in the process of removing the engine out of a mondial t 1993 cab one of the last things to do apart from splitting the frame chassis, is from inside of the vehicle with the rear seats down the inspection panel removed , one is able to see the main cooling 2 large pipes about 2 and a half inch diameter each approx, they seem to be shaped like an upside down L , they are very tight on there fitting , also not much space where they are fitted for any good purchase of them as to removing them from there fitting ,can anyone give me a kind help as to any tips at all in removing them or does one just struggle to get them of , or perhaps remove them while the engine is being lowered ? , because I am trying not to damage anything in the process , so just wanted to know if there was a good way to do it , rather than a struggling way , thankyou for any kind responce to this, regards Pepi.

    Use a very long 1/4" extension with a swivel socket (7mm I believe) and 1/4" ratchet to loosen the hoses. just loosen one hose clamp on each hose.
    It is tight, but you should be able to pull the hose off.
    Best to remove the engine with the hoses attached and remove clamps from the chassis side, but you can do either way depending on how accessable the clamps are.

    Also, remove the access panel behind the rear seat, You can access one of the hoses there along with the throttle cable.

    If you cannot pull the hoses off, slowly lower the engine assembly, just enough that you can pull them off.
    Be sure not to damage those hose pipes!!

    Pepi, im not an owner , but work on many different things. this is more of a " general how too" suggestion so use your own best judgement.
    when i am faced with lage expensive hoses close to other large, sharp and expensive parts , this is what i do. :
    !) i am assuming these are HOSES made of rubber and NOT metal pipes, your post was a little confusing to me.
    2) i remove whatever clamp is in place an then try to gently slide a very short flat blade screwdriver around the inside lip of the hose where it goes on to the fiting or metal pipe.
    3 i do this until i can twist the hose with my hands or a pair of large pliers.
    4) dont use a lot of force or you will cut yourself on something and or damage surrouding components.
    5) wd40, or similar sprayed around the hose will also help to break it loose from a metal fitting or pipe. i work on more aircraft than cars, most of my car background is muscle cars, really old ones, where everything is stuck together and 25+ years old. twisting hoses to get them off is ALWAYS better than yanking on them. pushing them straight on to install them is prefferred as aircraft hoses are not allowed to be installed twisted and be considered airworthy. i treat my cars the same way. best, michael

    James and Michael , just wanted to say thankyou very much for your kind advice when I needed it most , thankyou to you both, anyway I have removed the pipes now , I had to lower the engine a little first inorder to be able to get any movement from them, I did also as was suggested then I used just enough force with a tool behind them to push them of , I wont tell you the tool I used because if you where my boss you would sack me , but these pipes where extreamly tight , done now with no damage to them, anyway thanks once again ,many regards from Pepi.
