Considering changing out the stock 16" wheels for other 16's or 17's on my "new" 89 Mondial t cabriolet, Red/Tan with black top.

Went through another Mondial thread, and pulled a couple photos of wheels. What is the general consensus on which look is best for the Mondial t Cabriolet? or please post photos of your car, and specify the wheel type and size for consideration.

    #1 Mondial with stock 16's

    #2 with 348 wheels (17's)

    #3 with 355 wheels (unsure of size...18"?)

#4 look like Speedlines? (unsure of size, ans looks lowered a bit).

(THANKS to other posters from whom I shamelessly stole these photos. Great looking cars.)

    Thanks. John

I think the 355 wheels look great but they weigh 18lbs ea and they will unbalance the geometry. 328 16in would be the only set to spend$ on.These would add value. So go to Discount Tire and Put some 255 rears on what you got and some225s on the front and WEAR em out.I like 255X50 Michelin MMx back there, there big and they dig.Dont do anything to your Car but refit and maintain,no resto, its still newish and fine,c'est la vie.

FWIW, I got the specific Speedline factory recommended application for the Mondial which was listed as 17" x 7.5"F , and 17" x 8.5"R. I did this while in Germany and the Speedline rep there said that as OEM to Ferrari for the original car, Speedline had access to the original engineering data and this was their recommendation for the car for a higher performance wheel. These wheels were even sold through the German Ferrari dealers as a dealer option. Note that this is not an extreme change, but a careful tweaking of the original numbers. This data is circa 1997.

A good photo is in the Lehbrink/Schmegelmilch book "Ferrari" in the section on the Mondial which shows a beautiful red/tan t-cab with these exact wheels from my old servicing dealer in Frankfurt.

All Mondials have the same offsets and bolt patterns. The 3.2/t wheels will fit on an 8 & QV perfectly.
    IIRC:
You do not need spacers for 348 wheels, but you must use 348 wheel bolts
Yo DO need spacers/bolts for 355 wheels

    Ed,

Your car looks great. 355 wheels are fantastic on these cars. Just a bit pricey for the set.
