For sale my outstanding example of a (mostly restored) '89 Mondial t coupe. It has 93,000 mi. on the chassis but everything about the car: mechanical, electrical, interior, exterior, suspension and more has been redone, replaced, or renewed mostly in the last few years and within the last 30,000 miles. All mechanical, electrical, and exterior work has been done in the last 8,000-15,000 miles. The major was completed about 3 years ago by Dave Helms of Scuderia Rampante as was all mechanical and electrical work. All of his upgraded parts are on this car. You will find Mondials with fewer miles (which most certainly does not translate into a better car) but none will be better handling, better driving, better looking or more RELIABLE than this car. The last buyer thought he could afford a Ferrari but it turned out not to be the case but because of the contract we had I can give some lucky one a great deal on a great car. Feel free to call Mr. Helms and also fellow FChatters HankSound and Valenzo both of whom know my car and have seen and ridden in it. For a full detailed writeup of what has been done to this car (and it is extensive) please send me a PM and I can email you a copy. If you are a serious buyer do not pass up this one especially for the price of $41,500.

Wow..that is really, really nice. The 348 wheels really set off that Mondial Coupe shape. Shame the interior is tan for me, but I'm sure others will certainly like the tan.

    Beautiful car man...

Thank Y'all Very Much. It Really Is A Great Car For Someone To Show Or Better Yet, Drive!
Also As Far As The Mechanical Work That Was Done Dave Helms Did A Complete Top End Rebuild (Read: Valve Job). Bottom End Is In Great Shape.

is that a good suggestion on the you tube video where owner says timing and tensioners every 7 years if done well? he seems to be a great owner, custodian, and spokesperson for such a beautiful coupe. I'm ready to drink the kool-aid on an '89 mondial t coupe.

What I can tell you is that every Ferrari owner has their own opinion about how many years to do a belt change. Ferrari thinks 3 years is a good idea (I'm sure they do, how about every other year, what the hell). If I were to keep this car it would be 7 years but that's me.

Most or at least many owners think a major is a major is a major. Don't believe it; the single most important thing I've learned about owning a Ferrari in the last 11 years is that who does the service is more important than what service has bee performed. Logic dictates that when you get the correct WHO the correct WHAT just follows. For me better parts dictate longevity and performance and Dave Helm's parts are everywhere on my car and I haven't even mentioned his complete knowledge of the mark and his extreme attention to detail in actually fixing (not just repairing) the problem; getting to the root cause.

BUT everyone has to decide for themselves.

The retro cell phone on the cradle really takes me back. Very cool, period correct accessory.

Remember when the curly base cell antenna was a status symbol?

    Beautiful car! GLWS!

I have a t coupe and agree with almost everything you said!!

The only caveat on the belts is that the car is regularly driven. If it is a garage queen, you may want 5 years. Otherwise even 7 is conservative, but people get a little crazy with the 5 year time limit or 30,000 miles. It would take most people 10-15 years to rack up that kind of mileage.

In researching this some years back, I found that on the older F cars Ferrari used to recommend belt changes at around 56k miles (90km). The story is that they figured out that reducing the recommended changes resulted in additional work for the dealers. Remember, back in the day they did not sell very many cars. So it was hard to make money on service.

Not sure how true this is but I can't remember someone posting here that the belts didn't last for 7 years (or longer) on a car that was regularly exercised. Yes bearings are important also, when you change the belts you change the bearings.

If Dave Helms has been taking care of your car, it is in the best of hands!!

    GLWS. It looks terrific!!

    Regards,
    Jerry

Thanks Jerry and I agree with EVERYTHING you said. You need to drive the damn things to get the most out of them in terms of performance and reliability. Good luck with yours, I really enjoyed mine.
