Hi redheads I have been the delighted owner of a 1993 Mondial t for a month now and have 2 items for your delectation and hopefully advice ;- (1) Following a heartstopping incident when the braided pipe connecting the RH fuel filter to the U-bend on the 'in' end of the injection rail came off, thus spraying £££s of unleaded all over the (thankfully cold) engine + most of the surrounding countryside, the car suffers from an occasional misfire (or more likely a whole bank cutting out) above a certain engine load or possibly throttle setting (e.g. at about 3000rpm when at full throttle in 5th), subsequently clearing its throat intermittently. Could this be anything to do with the fuel incident - e.g. fuel filter clogged up with crap hoovered up from bottom of tank - or is there a better explanation? In any case the filters look past their pristine best so a swap can do no harm... (2) On a rather more mundane note, the LHS headlamp refuses to lower (however goes up fine). I changed the relay, lubricated the joints, etc but no joy. Any ideas, preferably not involving a new motor... Notwithstanding the above, this 39 k mile car is a joy + a revelation in terms of (date I say it) practicality. It came from Verdi in Hayes with plenty of main dealer history and appears fairly sound
Regarding the headlamp, check that the arm is properly clocked on the pivot. When the headlamp did this on my previous Mondial T, the connection had come loose and caused the arm to no longer be connected in the right position. The connection is serrated (I forget the correct term) so adjustment is somewhat trial and error. Try to set it to the same position as the headlamp that works. I'm assuming that the motor does indeed turn in both directions. You can confirm this by disconnecting the arm and watching the motor move, if you haven't already done so. BTW, be very careful when working on these headlamps ... the motors move quickly and with a good deal of force. You could get a finger caught in there. Loved my Mondial T. Needed frequent care till I got it sorted, but it was a joy to take on trips with the kids. Best of luck with yours. Lou
I think early mondial T's were subject to a recall to replace the fuel line connectors since they tended to crack off...contact Ferrari and give them the VIN# and they should tell you if the work was done....if not you should be able to get it done free from the dealer ( this won't be ez..the dealer will want to have nothing to do with you on this...I went throught this..be persistant) in any event..if the fuel lines have not been replaced and they should have under the recall then get them replaced no matter what....( this info applies to the US and its DOT recalls)
