Starting this for what may be some interesting if not typical issues.

TODAY, FINALLY getting around to fixing the steering and other items...been putting it off as finances and housing market is taking up my time. With several projects just sitting, keeping them going is taking all the resources .. Bummer.

Here are today's picks ... ya' it's DUSTY, why, well last weekend I am lining my BBQ bottom with custom granite tiles....need to cut in slots for the heat to rise, using an angle cutter and a diamond wheel

GUESS what brain child didn't do: Open the garage or do it outside ... course it was raining and I am NOT one to stop something once I get a hair up my ---...... good thing I have a very understanding tollerant mate.

    ok, issues:

    1. Steering whining, groaning sound. Either the left-front steering motor is not getting fluid, even though showing full [though VERY hot hmmmm], I am thinking there is blockage: I've heard there might be an inline filter or coupling...will post as I DO have a pic of that but just can't get to it as in left front engine compartment. The steering motor is front boot area.
I've also heard there is a servo motor under the driver's dash....we'll see.

    2. Getting the leveling lights coming on intermitanly. The one showing the side profile of the car with two triangles under each tire. Might mean the ECU's are not updated -- but since FofSF did work on this car, I'm expecting they got to it..never truly know. Old Software had only one, servo controlling the entire leveling ECU. Updates had ALL servos giving input as I've been told. Trouble with all, is if ONE or more go it locks down, tight, all servo motors for a nice track like experience until sorted correctly. T and 456 GT series had three settings while the 456 M series had only two.
    - the other item that may cause this is a [+/-] servo motor. The plastic CHEAP tops that hold the gear to screw down the suspension can break, also. There is a guy on ebay that makes METAL replacements and they are much better for a longer run...I'd opt for them but will see as don't know the issues at the moment.
    - other is electrical to each servo...will check
    - lastly, and might be the issue is to rebuild the Bilstein shocks, which isn't that expensive, < $300 IIRC. Using a 3rd party but one that is highly trusted that Rifledriver uses, is FAST and cost wise isn't bad. Using OEM, Bilstein is S-L-O-W even with the 'rush' fee. Many threads on this [check out the 456 car site thread on chat]

    3. Needs SMOG - we'll see where that goes, if more needed, Brians the guy.

    4. Side strakes, see below: Have metal ones from first series 1989 Mondial T that will replace my cheap plastic ones. Note the broken tips. Will having the old ones sent back, will glue them better...repaint and hang on wall like art: Should be cuuoooooll

    5. Due for an engine out, service, this August, but will wait for December or such as finances dictate that path. Desperately needs a new set of tires too :| If Brian convinces me otherwise, I'll do the engine while at his place. I certainly don't have the place, time, or ability to pull it off ESPECIALLY with Spring/Summer a commin' :)

Pick of the strakes include a bottle of very nice Old Vine Zin which is awsome..sending Brian a bottle...gotta keep the mech happy if not toasty.

other picks show the wild kitaays tracks foraging on my dusty T

    oh, well....gotta love it.

will keep posted as when I get it back THE TONNEAU COVER WILL BE NEXT to complet and post. Yipeee
[ any comments on how dirty it is get you a bucket, soap, cloth and a space to make it right.....otherwise it was a daily driver and I haven't the inclination to buff the cr$p out of it every day....geesch, it's a car]

the pic of the busted plastic tips. Actually have a lot of pics regarding that to post later. But here is a typical example in that over the years, I guess, the plastic starts to bake, get weathered, stretch or whatever, bad buffer wheel from some detail shop [ya' I know, never went back, as how do you 'larn' someone in the biz that doesn't get it from the start]

It looks kind of sad riding away on the Flat bed. Thanks for posting, I'll be watching this thread.
By the way, don't you have California dusters out there in California? :)

Got an update: are those guys quick....Seems the reservoir is toast, needs replacement. Will have to learn to either write faster as I hear it spoken, or get over my old age and just remember what was told me...crips, hate growing old[er]

    abilities dwindling as I type.....

The suspension seems to be an issue, but since it's so once-in-awhile, will/might wait to replace the ECU. We are thinking FofSF, since a factory shop, who worked on that same/similar issue about four years ago, would have known of the '93 updated SW for ECU...but, no one is perfect...it's a guess.

IF it gets more constant in keeping on, then will just acquire the new ECU and plug it in myself as somewhere north of $1.5k for that...
Only problem would be a likely lock down to hard mode, and that's not a big issue as one can drive on that.

Actually, I need new tires for this year, and the Mich'lns. will be more important in my mind....

Ya'...seing it go away on a flat bed is not a great feeling, but knowing where it's going made it feel MUCH better

as for dusters in CA, we are working on it.......here kitaaaay

I like it, but you are also going to need a trained mouse to motivate the cat.

Not so, Dave :) Cinder was quite motivated by her dreams of having a Mondial as a new family member. Five years later - and who's counting?!

Love to you and your two girls :)

    Cheers, Hank

    Thanks hank,
btw, that does not appear to be Rachel that Cinder is fawning over.
