What's the right way to tie it down? Axle straps on the rear wheels? How about the fronts? This is a coupe if that makes a difference.
The "right" way is to flatbed it. There are no axles in the front so whether or not you put the rwd in the air and leave the fronts on the ground is likely limited by the lift angle, the condition of your streets, and how much clearance you have with the frontnose. The alternative is to lift the front and put a high speed wheel dolly on the rear... But that's basically a flat bed tow with more steps.
Let me clarify. I will be towing it with an open trailer. So any insight on a flatbed tow would be much appreciated.
I used the wheel wrap tie downs on the front both sides and tied the rear thru the frame members on both sides. Leave the car in neutral so the rocking of the car doesn't mess up the gears in the tranny. Handbrake is optional, if you have it tied down well, you don't need it, but use it if it makes you feel better. The biggest risk is that the car is going to come forward off the trailer if you have a front end impact accident, so make sure it's really dogged down in the rear. Alden
