I started to digging into my engine's issues on the path of a major service (engine out).
The engine suffered from a belt failure and consequently overall repair with a bill over 10.000€. As per PO, the cause was the loosening of ring nut securing the driving pulley of belt! This happened in 2015 and last recorder belt change after that was in 2018 (since then the car registered 2200km only).
Overall appearance of the engine is alarming, seems neglected with rust collars, dirty, oily camshaft cover on bank 1-4 (dripping oil above a/c compressor), crank sensors cables seem deteriorated, on of their plugs is disintegrated and overall looks very neglected. Yesterday right side idle control valve stucked giving a 2000 rpm idle. After some cleaning (with brake cleaner) valve seems to work OK but.... Checking further the gear oil I found the dipstick thread ruined(!) and need repair possibly with hellicoil. Drilled cover under pumpkin was full of oily dust and most probably a new clutch will be needed... All these with 54000 km on the clock! So, I am thinking in major service to replace precautionary several parts like ignition modules, coils, idle control valves, λ sensors, any aged rubber part and to make a full check on compression, adjustments, check valves clearance, replace top gaskets, clean and maintain starter, re-grease of voith dumper, probably clutch change, cv joints' boots and certainly belts, tensioners etc.
Just wondering if all timing marks are properly aligned it would be necessary to make a camshafts timing verifying TDC and valves open/close degrees?
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed!

    Good list.

That would be a yes on degreeing the cam timing on a 348T engine.
