From a recent confirmed sale for $80K (yes - eighty thousand US dollars) to this current ad in craigslist asking 24K: Only 1000 made in the world. This is my daily driver....love this car. Unfortunately, I have to sell it as I bought another Ferrari. It's well maintained, runs like new and the sound....well, if you like the Ferrari roar, this is it! It has 102k miles on it, oil changed every 3000 miles. Regular maintenance by a top South Bay mechanic. With TLC and regular maintenance, this car will last forever. Red with black top (I almost never put the top up). This car will serve it's new owner well....great for someone who wants to drive a Ferrari at an affordable price. If you're looking to buy a pre-owned Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar or Corvette, come look at this first! This car is very comfortable, has a wonderful ride and handling, plenty of luggage space for two and a huge dose of passing power at city or highway speeds. It's a beauty and a real head-turner! Price: $24,000 or best offer. The first reasonable offer takes this beautiful car! Upgraded sound system, upgraded wheels, alarm, etc. The driver leather seat is worn due to use, so I had special hand-sewn (and contoured) sheepskins put on both front seats. Normal nicks on the paint. The car comes with the factory satin car cover. Great car at a great price!
David, sorry to hear you're selling her. What a great deal for someone...$24K is WAY too low even if she has 102k miles on her. Hell she probably has another 100k left in her I'm sure. Good luck with the new lady.
TMan, I don't believe David is selling his Mondi. If I'm not wrong here-------I believe he's just pointing out the price spread between a recently sold Mondi Cab at $80 something and this car on Craigslist for $24K. Cheers, Hank
I believe that he might be selling (he has a picture of a black F355 in his profile now) and if I had 24k handy right now I would snap his hand off. I could be wrong ;-)
No! I am not selling (at least not for 24K. 39K maybe...) I saw the ad on craigslist and couldn't believe it.
102k miles...thatsa lot no matter what car..I think the price is a little aggressive on the high side..?? The '87 @ $53 is at FoW. Makes me feel pretty good with my '88 @ 14k miles..
the ad now reads Price: $22,000 or best offer. The first reasonable offer takes this beautiful car! http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/car/409707385.html
Very interesting..someone has loved this car and that is great..but at some point the economic utility of a piece of machinery comes to an end. There may/likely be many more enjoyable miles in this car. However, unless it is a classic where miles matter less, this car is approaching the end of its useful ECONOMIC life. I could not justify putting in the $$ for another major or much else. But someone might pay $10-15 and get some enjoyment out of it for a few years, do an oil change or two then put it out to pasture/ part it. So in my mind, $10k aint so far from reality. The guy or someone along the way has gotten 100k enjoyment from the car and it depreciates. That is what you pay for pleasure. In that vein, I think the car has served its mission and Enzo would be proud..but my comments don't imply that a 20-30k mile car in fine nick wouldn't be worth ^ $ ..I think Mondials have some upside for the right cars..
If it were a t coupe, this thread would be "old news". Aside, can you imagine how many things have been replaced or repaired in 102k miles? My guess is, it's a damn good deal for a very pretty car.
As many of you may know I recently sold my 91 "t" for 80,000. What adds to the perspective of the sale is, that I was not trying to sell it, but someone wanted it badly enough to pay me a price that I could not resist. They found me-I did not find them! These Mondials are GREAT Ferrari's and often I personally see them sold way too cheap. Why I do not know. While I guess you can say it is what the market will bear, you the owners, have a lot of control over that. It is purely up to you. I guess if you have to sell one for a quick infusion of cash than you don't have that option. However supply and demand is in your favor as we all know they did not make a heck of a lot of these. Raising the "anti" is of the surviving Mondi's many are trashed or simply wearing out. Shortly the inventory will drop and prices will most likely reflect that. I believe that we are starting to see that happen. My Mondi was obviously an exceptional example and really in the same condition (or better) than when it left the factory back in 1991. Knowing that it sold then for over 100k, purchasing it in today's dollars @ 80k might reflect a bargain. I guess it is all in how you look at it. In case anyone was wondering it was also due for a major service so you do the math (It makes the sales price jump over 80,000). The new owner was very well aware of the cost of a major service and paid the 80,000 without hesitation. Perhaps it is one for the record books but I doubt it will be the last. I'm with Hank, 24 or 22k for any Mondial "t' is probably a steal. Just my .02...what do I know!?! Fyrrari! (aka; -1 Fyrrari)
Don't know about the engine in a 't' but I have read about two 328 with over 100k miles on them and they seemed to be running well. No doubt the "engine out" major service on a 't' makes them a more expensive car to maintain. But if the car runs well at over 100k miles why not at least run it on a five year belt plan and enjoy it? Don't put these cars out to pasture before their time. -F
Engine in a t is same as a 348, and there are not too many of those with over 100K. It is, to some extent, uncharted territory. Hank is right though - the car must have had a lot of things replaced over the years. Now if anyone wants to buy my t (56K miles) for 39K, I'll happily buy the cheap one and report on condition and try to see it to 200K miles. My car just had a major BTW Hell, it's almost worth 20K just for the parts - not that I'd part it out !!!!
The car was on ebay this week. Last I saw, it was at $20k with a few hours to go. Not sure what happened but it was stuck on $20k for a couple of days and it hit reserve at or below that price. The guy probably pulled it at the last minute.
