Hello: I am interested in purchasing a Mondial T. I would like a 1990 or newer but have an opportunity to purchase a 1989 #81984 for a decent price. I know there were updates done to the 1990 and up to the injection system, how important is this? Is there anything that I should be aware of on the 89? Looking for some sound advise. FD
The t is a great Ferrari. I do not think the later version of the Bosch engine management system is that important. Supposedely the later version (2.7) yields a little more power. Also, the 2.7 gives you the ability to get the stored error codes yourself by pushing buttons in the trunk and watching the dash lights blink. I believe some people prefer the earlier t mainly because of the interior (without the automatic seat belts). Good luck in your search. Dave
No automatic seatbelts or dashboard shelf (problem for taller people) in the '89t. How many miles? That may matter in terms of items like the alternator, oil cooler bearing, etc. My only real issues with my '89t were the 'hot start' problem (low-cost solution: install a relay/have one installed) and the oil cooler bearing (if it's a problem, you will hear it after driving for 15 mins or so...tends to pop up around 40-50K miles). Outside of regular maintenance (including a major) that's been pretty much it.
Frank- my sister is selling her '92 Mondial T. Make sure you contact her... http://ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=1193 Cheers Pietro
