My newly acquired Mondial T has only a few small issues which I would love to sort out. The first is the rear trunk button does not work. I can open the rear trunk manually - but would like to get the button workingh.

I have checked the solenoid and there is no power going to it- if the button is pressed or not. I checked the button and there is no power going to it either . Is there a relay somewhere that feeds the switch.

    The fuses all seem good.

    Thanks.

    Morning Michael,

Had you not stated that there is no power GOING TO the switch, my first suggestion would have been to spray de-oxid into the switch as that cured my fuel flap.

The rear trunk is the ONLY button in that row that requires the + from the ignition.
All others feed from permanent + and hence work even with the key out.
(something I actually would love to change as I also do park my car top down and do not like the idea of someone being able to investigate the contents of my car by the mere push of a button) (but then again, the rear trunk contents are just a pull away for someone savvy enough to find the handle.....)

Anyway, start your search there or bridge the permanent + from a neighboring switch to check if it works at all. (mind you that ignition might come on that way as well)

    Good luck !

Thanks for the input. I have determined that the solenoid is good. It works when I jump 12v to it.

The Problem is that there is NO power GOING TO the switch (ignition on or off). My original question still stands. Is there a relay feeding power to the switch, and if so where is it? Why no power going to the switch?

I found the relay. - replaced it and the rear trunk button now works. The relay is in the trunk against the engine firewall. See image below....

    Hello Michael
What supplier had the relay? Both Recambi in the US and Maranello in the UK say this part is no longer available. Is there another relay that works on the Mondial?

I used an old 4 pin relay that I had in my spares box. I think any 4 pin relay might work. The one I used was a 12v Hella branded relay.
    Part no. 003 510-88.

I don't know why the relay part numbers for identically performing relays are so complicated.

    Good luck
