I have acquired both the two front, and two rear seats to a Mondial T, cabriolet, in good condition except the leather would truly need replacing IMO.

What I am doing is a leather replacement and doctoring from a local person, who does airplanes and Exotics for over 20+ years, of my Mondial T's seats.

The price is awsome in my opinion, and of the cars etc. I've seen her do, she is great.

QUESTION: The seats I have are model year 1989, which had a differnent seat belt requirement. Matter of fact, this change in style, made the rear seats just a few inches wider. The '90 had auto-retracting belts [blasted seat mice] which resulted in this over the shoulder hook arangement. The '89 does not. Not a problem in terms taking back off the '90's and put on the '89 seats.

I know I can just get in there and check to see if the tracks are exact, BUT was wondering if anyone knew for sure.

My plan is to recover the front seats of the '89 and use for daily driving, then replace the original, recovered seats when I either go to sell, or show.

Ya' I know, get out the wrench, which can be a bit of a '*****' but will ask the question anyway.

IF NO answer, I'll go for the wrench and assume no one truly knows.

    thanks

    Hey Rik,

I'm thinking that the tracks are identical leaving only the belt setup to be the major challenge. You could install your choice of belt setup (4 point or more) - independent of the stock configuration and upon deciding to show or sell, remove your custom setup and the stock setup would be ready to go.

    Cheers mate,

thanks. What I was thinking on the tracks too.

However, as a FYI, the rear seat area did not get any seatbelt connections from the front two seats. The strip between the rear seats is much smaller than later T's as later T's had the retracting mech in that strip. Point of connection was a bit diff. too, but see your point on just doing an entire diff. setup.

What I'm having done is remove the seat backs, have them redone too of course, then put on the older model seats to conform to belt hookups [skipping using the mice connector, just use the anchored connector]. These temp seats will be worn for daily driving, and then replace with frest original seats later.

BTW< I am working with her on a tonneau top to my design with snap connectors, some zippers, and a diff. front...I know the others exist, but I have this desire to design. She is going to insert a cavallino in there somewhere.

also having her make some leather ruck-sacks for day traveling.

AND, lastly, two cupholders that will fit next to the side rails of the door jams. I've found a way to have them fixed, yet easily removed, so that the drink sits on the floor betwee the seat and the door sill.....

Not a fan of cupholders, but going every weekend to Sacramento, with top down, after an hour, needs some liquid when getting baked in the Sun.

will post pics when I get it going next week.
