I have a nasty rattle under high rpms in my shifter housing. I decided to try and take housing out and rebuild it and lube my shift cables. I got the cables unhooked from rear of car. I was hoping to pull the shifter housing out with the cables attached but there is no way to get it out with that bracket in the way and it’s riveted in. If I pull it forward it hits the radio. If I try and tilt it sideways to unhook the cables underneath shifter there isn’t enough room to get wrenches in there. Any ideas?

Hi folks - sorry for posting on an old thread, but I find myself in this same position - my shift lever broke and I’m trying to remove the housing pictured above to replace it. 89 Mondial t cab. I’d appreciate whatever guidance you good folks could offer.

It seems the OP as focused on removing it FROM the console.

I think to access this you remove the console itself, exposing the shifter and cables?
Look at some of the GTB console threads. Although our shifter is rod actuator, not cable.
He mentions rivets in place which Ferrari does use, but normally you don't need to drill them out to effect minor repairs.

Sorry I 'm speaking generally, maybe some other owners or an expert can help more.

Agreed! sometimes you just have to gut things out to get to them. Interiors are the worst.
