    Last night when I turned my headlights on, the tachometer jumped up to 3-4k rpm when the car was at idle and stayed there. When I would turn them off it went back down to 1k rpm. There was no change in engine speed or anything. Just the tach went bonkers. What could cause this? How do I fix it? Anyone else had this weird convergence and discord?

    Mine did that before and as I adjusted the dimmer nob either up or down the tach went back to normal. Never found out why but once I found that happy spot for the cluster dimmer, all is OK.

    Yes,

    Mine does it as well. Check out your oil pressure guage when you turn on the lights. I would bet dollars to dognuts that the pressure "drops" when you turn on the lights.
