My Mondial t had a new radiator during the summer, as it was running so hot it persistently boiled. Now the Winter is here, it's running too cold, presumably because the thermostat is dead. I've got a new one, but I've no idea how to fit it. Has anyone got the relevant pages from the workshop manual that I could have a look at?

    Please.

You can get the manuals for free from https://www.ferrariowners.com/, you need to register but all the books and manyuals you need can be downloaded.
Are you sure its the thermostat? you might also need to bleed the system, if the rad was changed you might have an air lock which is preventing the water for circulating.
    Cheers

    Hi Nick,

Please correct me if im wrong, but I thought these manuals were car manuals i.e hand books, as apposed to workshop manuals?
    Cheers

you know, I think you are right! I know I got my workshop manual as a PDF from somewhere, just can't remember. I did buy a CD off ebay but that only has the 308, 328 and 365 on.

Thanks for the replies. I can't think of anything else that would make the car run too cold. An airlock would have the same effect as a blocked thermostst, and the engine would overheat.

I'll have a hunt round Google. If I find anything, I'll post the link.

    Isn't a 348/Mondial T engine 308 based?.

if yes then the thermostat housing should be at the back of the engine above the cam belts. It is a 3 bolt removal then pull out the old thermostat.

Perhaps SteveW will chime in as he has a 348.

From what I can see from the Owners manual, the thermostat sits on top of the water pump at the end of the engine nearest the rear seats, which I would call the front of the engine, and it looks extremely difficult to get to. In fact, I can't see it, or maybe I can't recognise what I'm seeing. I really would appreciate some help.

This is a 308 pic borrowed from another thread

The large yellow ring shows the thermostat housing. Three smaller yellow circles shows the three nuts to remove the housing.

The red arrow shows the thermostat bleed screw.

Hope this clarifies it a bit Pete

Blimey, I wish my engine looked that clean. The 308 engine sits transversely, mine sits longituduinally, so I not sure which end to look, but there are only two, so it shouldn't take too long to find it. Thanks for your help.

I agree, I would be proud if that was my engine.

I did a bit more research and yes it would be at the back of the engine behind the seats.

Am I right in saying that the back seat panel is removable in a T to get to the engine. If not you might need to remove the plenum to gain access.

Hi John , thought I would send you a picture of a photo that I took when I did the major service on my mondial t , showing the location of the thermostat housing , which in the photo is the housing which receives the large hose on it , being at the top in the middle at the most front of the engine just above the waterpump between both cyclinder heads ,hope this helps you .
    Ciao for now .
