Any ideas how to get this top black trim piece off. It really needs a repaint. I figure I can do it myself if I can get it off. Any thoughts welcome. Also, what paint would you use....Thanks so much, Lou

    Hi Lou,
I see this post is 6 years old and not one response? Did you find the best way to remove this trim? Did you find a paint to match? This color seems, not to be flat and not to be semi gloss?

I also have this same finish on my ashtray. Mine like every other Mondial I have seen in original condition have the same problem.

Has anyone removed front and door window trims with success? Thank you for the suggestions.

Hi Crash where have you been hiding? I see your previous post was last year? How is the T doing? Howie.

I've been busy starting a company. I'm in the hunt to touch up the details of all the metal window trim.

I can't seem to find any Mondi owners that have actually taken the window trim off the car for painting, so I guess I will be masking and painting my way. I painted my way through college, hope it all comes back.

Thank so much, also for closing out a 6yr old thread.

Not sure how you got the name crash? We should get our T's together some day. I got a new exhaust on mine that I think you would like to hear. H.

Sadly, it's been 6 years and it still looks the same. My time always seems spent on other things. I guess kids will do that to you.

So, any thoughts on how to pull it?

Lou, I'm taking a closer look this weekend, I did some search here and didn't find much on removal. Seems like everyone masks and paints them while attached? Might be a good idea, with age there is sure to be rust involved or decay and pulling just might be a bigger mess than is needed.

Wurth makes a Satin black trim paint that looks oem to me, did a touchup on my trim and can't tell where the blemish was. But I too would be interested in how this trim removes, not obvious how it's affixed.

Why are you taking the trim off to repaint it?

I just had all the window trim, windshield, and right and left window side trim painted by a restoration shop in the San Francicsoc Bay Area. Excellant results, looks like new
and did not take any of the trimm off. They even painted three paint chips I had on the
    front of the car.

    Hey crash,

You didn't happen to spend lots of time (back then) at Squaw Valley, did you??

    Cheers,

Just a thought. Maybe one of the breakers would know how it comes apart. The guys at Ferrparts in Sacramento have always been friendly. They may have some guidance.
