The adhesive technician is coming round today to look at the body/chassis in respect of the adhesive. We will probably use Araldite 2015 to bond the two together then bolt/rivet at key points for that "belt and braces" approach. The aluminium honeycomb composite panels arrive next week for the flat panel areas in the car.

Thinking of putting in far infrared night vision....

Not sure about the entire kit, but I haven't met an older Mondial 8 / 3.2 that wouldn't like to update his or her rubber bumpers to the newer style. I know if you could come up with just the basic newer bumper set I'd buy a set.

Not sure about the rest but I'm sure it will look different when it's all done. Can't wait to see pics of finished product!

replacement 3.2 or T bumpers in exchange for my rubber ones ?? I'm down with that. Not only would I make an initial investment but if it came with lights and everything I'd pay about $4K US for them. Please someone let me know if this ever becomes a reality !!!!!!!!

Comments??? I just want more progress pics!! I love the look you have achieved, and cannot wait to see it finished. Very clean look, in my opinion. If I were to make any negative comment, it would be on the hood vents, as they are too round for the otherwise squarish look of the car. But hey, that's just my opinion, and my opinion won't be able to drive the car!

    Shiny Side Up!

No, a Montecarlo! There were no right hand drive Scorpions and this one is RHD, look at the window wiper positions.
I have one, good looks, good handling, noisy uninspiring engine. They need a lot of effort to keep nice and good.

    Clive,
If you are fishing for compliments, well...

    YOU GOT THEM!!!

What you have done up to now is fantastic, but there is a certain relaxation in (visible) pace during the last period. I'd really like to hear news like "Engine Running", "first road test" et cetera. But we can only cheer and wait. Please, keep us all posted.

    Ciao

Good to here from you Bert.

The red one would remain relatively original, changes would include bigger wheels, better brakes, new headlights and tail lights, redone interior, new instrument binnacle, twin webers, new exhaust and a nice black paint job.

I will modify the white one. It will have new custom spaceframe front and rear, double unequal length wishbone suspension all round, beefed-up cabin, new interior, new design front and rear (longer rear and slightly shorter front), wide bulbous fenders, hatchback rather than the sail panels so that you can see the longitudinally mounted supercharged Fiat 3.2L V6 mounted to an uprated Renault UN1 transaxle, etc. etc. etc...

But first the Monzer series needs to go forward.

Not compliments, just felt like I was talking to myself, but thanks anyway :)

To an extent you are right.

I have been busy and distracted by other thing (work for one!) and I am trying to get the TVR Griffith finished and sent to the Philippines. The pictures here show the new dash and headlight cover bucks I made and how the car looks in my carport.

The Monzer engine will be shipped to Scott this month so that he has that to add to his New Year's hangover in early January. The result will hopefully give the car a power to weight ratio of 400bhp per metric tonne. Scott therefore will be the person to say those magic words "engine running".

Meanwhile I am pressing for major bodywork assembly progress on this side of the Pacific. There are some small design details left to finalise in the interior and I have to design and make the steering wheel, which, with the dash, should be the major last interior section to complete. I have decided that the Far Infrared (FIR) night vision will go ahead with the display most likely mounted in the sunvisor.

There will of course be major headaches in getting everything to work properly but most big problems are just a series of smaller problems that are not as hard to solve.

    Thanks.

The car is far more rounded in the flesh and the vents seem fine when the headlight openings are cut out of the bonnet. I would love everyone who has supported this project (as well as the nay-sayers) to be able to see the finished car.

I have a target of finishing everything by the end of May 2008 and to ship the car to the UK by July. If this timescale works out I will be driving the car in the UK and Europe for 3 or 4 weeks. Then I hope to publicise and sell this one.

There is, however, a lot of work to do...

That Griffith looks great. I'm not very familiar with them though since TVRs are not sold in the US. Is that front bumper something you made? It looks like it came off a Tuscan. I don't remember the Griffith having that.

This is a rather special Griffith as it was my development car. Some changes I made found their way into TVR production models.

    Read this:
    http://www.pistonheads.com/tvr/index.asp?storyId=2792

If you want more info try Googling "Zertec"

One day I will take the basic Griffith shape and modify it a bit, things like "fastback coupe", bigger wheels, slightly more aggressive styling, clearer cutoff at the rear to get rid of the "fat bum" syndrome, you get the idea...

I wondered where you went!?!? Your Mondial is about a zillion (" a lot" ) less strained than the original design in my humbleness of opinion. Just a great expression you've made with that car; we're about as anxious as you are to see that beauty hit the road.

The Scorpion/MonteCarlo. When that car came out, I was going to college and thought it was the coolest looking car ever. I wanted one badly, very badly. It was one that got away though. I read that the motor was a little anemic, but I don't imagine that'll remain the case when you do yours.

Glad to have you posting again!
