Haven't put them on the drawing (as I haven't decided on their shape) but there will be vents either side of the teardrop bulge.
Rough shape of the bulge. It needs a lot more grinding/surforming/sanding to get it down to the right size as I only have 1 inch and 2 inch thick sheets of foam but this is the general idea. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Put the car down on the wheels. I had forgotten how low the Mondial is (especially now it is so much wider) after having it stuck up in the air for so long. The rear is wider than the front on the new body, the only other current road car that I know of that has a wider rear than the front is the Zonda. When the new composite body is fitted the suspension will need to be set up from scratch (notice the front wheel arch). I really really like the 'coke bottle' shape evident in the top view. To me the thing the mondial really needed was lateral surface development in the rear and your wide rear curved surface development looks very nice. It's evident that you have put a lot of hard work and thought into this and it is really quite impressive. I'm looking forward to every update. Good luck and great work!
In the future I intend to do a left hand drive interior and a rear bumper modification, vents & number plate (BTW what are US plate dimensions?). You might also like the fact that the bulge gives a couple of extra inches of clearance over the engine if needed for "engineering" purposes...
Unfortunately I didn't quite take these shots at exactly the same angle or distance but they are close. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey! For my engine the longitudinal bonnet bulge goes the wrong way! I think he needs to try a set of slide valve 45mm individual throttle body injectors off of a motorcycle with a ported and polished head: 350 hp! Watching the Mz develop is great fun.
The bulge is designed to look as if the engine is longitudinally mounted (it looks better that way anyhow) however the width of the bulge above the plenum is about 400mm (about 16 inches) so plenty of space even transversely. I will need to sort out the lack of power issues but you have to let me get this part done first! I'm pleased that you are enjoying the development.
Having a bit of fun tonight sketching out the headlight layout. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I decided that the slightly protruding rear bumper was a bit old fashioned so I have taken the bottom of the light panel further aft then lined evrything up. This results in a more angled slope for the light panel, which I like. I am also giving the outer edges of this panel more definition. Ok, just found this thread and now I am really getting into this. At first I was like WTF. But after seeing the whole thread it's amazing how everything is coming together. I am a huge 80's tuner-car fan and this reminds me of that. All the best with the project Clive. Great seeing you doing what makes you happy! In the end, it's what really matters. Vasco P.S Any updates?!
oh my god! I havnt seen anything so beautiful since the FXX. Will the car have the Ferrari red, or a different color planned? Black, yellow? I really can't wait to see the final project. Great work!
