I paid £36k. There is another in the UK listed at the same money with a lot of issues. The ex-John Pogson silver 84QV is currently up for £45k which feels a bit strong to me, as it’s had a lot of owners and is over 60k miles. There’s also a red absolutely minter up for £43k that’s had 6 owners I think, again this felt a bit stiff to me. It’s been on sale since before mine (I viewed and paid a deposit before Xmas).
BAT showed an 82 with over 40,000 miles which sold for over $60,000, so I'm not sure what the right price is. Definite difference between US and UK prices.
Yes. BaT auctions are on fire now. To the point where it's taking weeks, rather than days to get a car on their sight. Fun to watch, but too rich for my blood. Insanity hit when someone paid over $140,000 for a Porsche 944 Turbo a couple weeks back https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989-porsche-944-turbo-26/ Joe
it’s probably an outlier. Good spec, classic Porsche colour, BaT tax. This is going into the collection of some Porsche obsessive. In the UK you can buy really nice 944s all day for less than £30k. I sort of considered one (or preferably a 968) before plumping for the Mondial.

Who leaves their rear window up when the roof is down? I didn't think you could actually put the roof down while they were still up, so must have raised them after the roof was down? Probably damages the rubber piece, another Ron Frohock reproduction customer prospect! Great to see a Mondial driven to high miles, probably well maintained to get there.
Had an absolutely gorgeous 968 for 4 years that I sold a year ago. Other than being very beautiful I hated it. Noisy, rattly and the 4 cylinder sounds like a sewing machine. I laugh when I see these suckers paying in the upper $30s and up for them now.
About 12 years ago I almost bought a lovely metallic blue 968 convertible on cup alloys, for £8950. Was surprised by how archaic it felt. Tried a 986 Boxster which felt like a much more modern car and bought that instead. I think in the past 944/968 always had price on their side, but I don’t think that will be the case much longer. The 986 is vastly better car, just a bit ubiquitous.
The 968 is basically an updated 924 that was designed in the early 70s. I think they’re really pretty cars but definitely not fun to drive.
It is a long time ago, but I owned a 1984 944 and it was a fantastic car, with a few simple mods. I had a borla exhaust and it had a great growl. It was very slow, but the shift quality was good after adding a short throw shifter, and with Fuchs wheels and good tires, that was the best handling car from a feel and feeback perspective I have ever owned. Supremely tossable and easy to control. I had a full leather interior, it was pretty austere but almost identical in feel to a 911 of the period, same type of seats, steering wheel, Better overall ergonomics than the 911 for sure. I recall the car being tight and feeling well built. I sold it on when I purchased my Mondial 3.2 cab about 17 years ago. I love my Mondial, it is more of a GT, and I still miss the true sports car character of tbe 944. But I get that memories of cars sometimes don't hold up to a modern revisiting. Cars have come along way. But many have lost character even where they are objectively better.
But isn't asking almost $50,000 for a 1983 Mondial 8 with more than 120,000 miles kinda crazy or is the market getting red hot for these cars?
Given inflation rates, costs of parts and labour are going way up. Short term, car prices should go up to reflect everything else having gone up in price. After that, depends on whether you think a recession is coming, or things will sort out. Tough call on the future, as always.
Hi folks, Just to make sure no one of this forum is missing this one: https://www.marktplaats.nl/v/auto-s/ferrari/m1808123095-ferrari-mondial-3-2-coupe-24-000km-bj-1989 1989 3.2 Coupe red/tan with 24.000km in the Netherlands published for 49.950,-- Euro Not mine, no association... Bye, Mondi Cab
https://www.tradeclassics.com/auctions/ferrari/1990-ferrari-mondial-t-2/ This was bid up to £30k yesterday but didn’t sell. ‘90 T with 51k miles.
It might be a 5K mile unicorn, but still, someone found enough value in these cool cars to pay over 100,000. Pretty damn good! Then, again I saw a Ferrari wall sign sell at BAT for 65K, so what do I know. lol.
just had a quick scan through the other lots. It made more than any of the 308/328s listed, which seems a little curious. I wouldn’t have thought the Valeo transmission/convertible combination would have been so desirable, but all it takes is two people who really want it……
